The CDC warns that this isn't an isolated incident and similar things have happened in other cities. Watch where you sit in public places. Also, be careful with various machines, like parking meters or stamp dispensers. Infected needles have also been found in the coin return slots.

aha... ☕ I heard this story once about some girl who went to her high school prom and ended up hitting it off with this guy. He gave her a little gift box and told her to wait until she got home to open it. Well, when she finally got back and opened the thing, there was just a scrap of paper inside that said, "Welcome to the world of side chicks." So, do you honestly think you're not just talking total nonsense here? 🙄

He says this:

I don't think we need to panic over nothing, but the reality is that there's an increasing number of people out there acting erratically, and it’s getting scary. Some people are actually coming up with disgusting tactics, like placing needles in places where someone could easily get pricked...
We've already seen several convenience store robberies in cities like Chicago and Cleveland where criminals threatened employees with needles, claiming they were infected.
Even if the statistical probability of catching something from a single prick is low, I still wouldn't want to take that chance.
A little extra caution never hurts. Honestly, these days you can't even take a walk along the coast in a place like Santa Monica at dusk without worrying about someone trying to snatch your purse.

Those HIV+ folks can be dangerous—I was reading some chat logs recently (maybe on a Reddit thread or something similar) involving Iskrica, and man, it’s sickening. Jokes aside, if someone is living with HIV and intentionally spreading their status through reckless behavior, they're just targeting innocent people.

Back when I was traveling through the States, there was this unsettling urban legend making the rounds about a guy working at a local pizza joint. Apparently, he was living with AIDS, and the story goes that he actually spat on a pizza ordered by a group of nurses, then had the audacity to call them up later just to brag about what he’d done... regardless of whether you can actually contract anything that way or not: 🙂

hehehe, I heard this went down in Germany—some guy gets his pizza delivered, starts whining because it’s cold and demands a fresh one... So they just warmed it up and, uh, "enhanced" it. Poor bastard ended up walking away with an STD instead. 🙂
