Internet connection issues

Hey everyone. If there’s already a thread about this, feel free to move my post...
I'm having some trouble getting my laptop online.
One day, the network icon just vanished from my taskbar where I usually sign in. Now I can't figure out how to get it back or reconnect.
My phone works perfectly fine, though...

Next time, maybe toss in what kind of laptop you're rocking and which OS you've got running (like Linux or Windows 7). Also, let me know if you're using an external USB Wi-Fi dongle or just the built-in one.
If it's the built-in kind, check if there's a physical switch on the front or side of the chassis, or maybe a keyboard shortcut—you know, hitting Fn plus one of those F keys to toggle the Wi-Fi on or off.

I'm using a home router. I don't think the specific laptop model (it's an HP) matters much here. The Wi-Fi icon on the keyboard works fine—it lights up blue.

So, what you're saying is the specific laptop model doesn't even matter? Because if it works fine on your phone, then the issue is clearly with the machine itself... 😕

I just need to find my network icon.

..what do you mean by "no network icon"??
Look at your taskbar, down in the bottom right corner near the volume icon. You should see a little Wi-Fi symbol there... just click that, pick your network from the list, and hit "Connect."
If that icon isn't showing up at all, go ahead and check the "Maid > Network adapters" section. See if your Wi-Fi adapter has a little yellow triangle or an exclamation point next to it while the other hardware looks fine—that usually means something's wonky with the adapter or you're missing a driver. Also, try right-clicking the Wi-Fi adapter and checking "Property" to make sure it's actually set to "Enable" so it can turn on.

Under Network adapters, there's a yellow triangle with an exclamation mark (an error) sitting right in front of the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport adapter laptop HP 250 G3 Windows 7

Go ahead and download the drivers for your WiFi and LAN...
