Internet Explorer

Yo, I need some help here. Basically, my Internet Explorer icon just vanished into thin air and I can't find it anywhere to actually launch the damn thing. When I try to install a new version, it keeps telling me I have to uninstall the old one first, but I can't even locate the original files to do that. Here’s a shot of what happens when I dig through Program Files and look into the IE folder—this is what my current IE icon looks like. What am I supposed to do? Thanks in advance

First off, edit your post and resize that image to a maximum of 800x600, otherwise I’m deleting this thread. 🙂

Look, if you're still on speaking terms with him, just head over to Start > all programs > Internet Explorer and give it a shot... if it actually loads, just grab the icon right from the address bar (http://www. ...) and drag it straight onto your desktop

Give this a shot:
Hit Start - run - then type in
IEXPLORE.EXE
and just click OK

Click Start -> search -> type in Internet Explorer and select "All files and folders" -> begin the search.
It should appear somewhere on the right side.
This applies if you are using Windows XP. If you have Vista or Windows 7, simply click Start, go to search, and type it in.

I only use IE 8 to browse CNN
and for over a month, it kept nagging me about some update it needed,
which I just kept ignoring.
then I opened it yesterday, saw some ads spinning at the top of the page
and the warnings were gone, so I guess it updated itself.
is that even normal??

Nah, it wasn't an accident.
Had a similar thing happen with Chrome
only had it installed to test it out, probably ran it maybe twice,
already forgot about it when Outpost started flagging that Chrome was trying to connect to the web,
but it was closed, yeah... no way.
Uninstalled it right then and there, so...

Does anyone actually know the name of the default Internet Explorer font? I'm pretty sure it's an actual font choice and not just some weird shadow effect applied to the letters. I'm using Chrome right now and the font looks hideous compared to it 🤣 Or if anyone has any other advice...
