iPhone 6 issues - Need help!

So, here we go. This popped up on my screen earlier today while I was running the update to the latest iOS.

It eventually cleared up after a bit, but now there's this persistent black line cutting right through the middle of the display that just won't budge.

What exactly am I looking at here, and what’s the fix?

I honestly have no idea what went wrong. Maybe your battery died mid-process, or you’re dealing with a faulty cable? My guess is the update just didn't finish properly. Someone might be able to walk you through it, but if you can't fix it yourself, you're stuck. Just a heads up: you can't exactly DIY an iPhone repair if it's still under warranty. If you picked it up at The New York Times, just take it back to them; usually, you'll have a replacement device in your hands within two weeks. 😉
