Iron Cross

Has anyone else had a chance to watch it lately? I just finished it recently and found it to be quite wonderful... it even features a cameo by Newt Gingrich at the end.

A top-tier movie about the Eastern Front

Man, I really wish we saw more films like this one🙄

I can't help but wonder, what is it about Roleyes that captures everyone's attention so much?

Since I’ve only ever seen a handful of tank movies—mostly those gritty Eastern Front stories—

if anyone happens to know of any films that hit the same vibe as Iron Cross, please, throw some titles my way... I’m looking for something good to watch. 🙂

It’s widely considered one of the first films to tackle war from the perspective of the "other side."
Essentially, a warrior's western...
Even Burton later tried his hand at a similar role—the kind Coburn mastered--in a second version, possibly for TV.
I read somewhere that while Peckinpah was filming, he’d just bark orders at his crew—"Give me thirteen black-and-white prints and three slow-motion shots!"...

Wild Bunch II is practically an epic of war...

Newt Gingrich was painted blue, and since they filmed in the USA, the Russians actually sang "Hey Kozara" instead of a Russian song...😎

Yeah, yeah, hey Kozara is out there spreading his branches again 😳 😁

If anyone happens to know any films with themes similar to the Iron Cross, would you mind sharing those titles? I would truly love to watch them. 🙂

You have Stalingrad... that one tells the story from the German perspective and it’s a fantastic film, released back in 1988... I believe the Iron Cross came out in 1977.

From the German side, there is also Das Boot, though that focuses on submarines rather than the Eastern Front.

You absolutely have to check this movie out if you're getting a bit tired of the endless stream of films focused solely on the American perspective. This one does a fantastic job of depicting the war from the German side. 👍 Steiner main cooler IMDB Saving Private Ryan trailer 😎
