Is it all just hype with these young prospects?

I feel like every year we get hyped about a new player being "the next big thing" only for them to disappear by their third season. It’s tough to tell who actually has the grit to handle a massive system change versus who just looks good in training camp. Do you think it's better to build around unproven talent or stick with reliable veterans?
