So, I’ve been running into this weird issue lately where I just can't seem to open certain threads on the forum (it probably affects other subforums too, honestly), and I haven't noticed any specific rules about what kind of content is off-limits, but here are a few random examples of what's acting up:
- Dealing with unbearable grandparents... ()
- For little Gregory, a tiny angel... sleep peacefully ()
- Baby walkers—are they actually worth it? ()

I'm running Firefox v 3.6.3 and I am completely lost as to why this is happening or how I might actually fix it.

What kind of symptoms are we talking about here? What does the error message actually say? I open them without any issues.

I knew I’d end up forgetting to include something important... :-) Nothing’s actually showing up on my end, just a total blank white screen.

Is it just certain threads failing to load? Or is everything acting up?

Yeah, you hit the nail on the head. It’s all just totally random, honestly—zero consistency, no discernible rules, or maybe I'm just too old and jaded to see them anymore. Some topics just pop up out of nowhere, while others seem completely blocked off for no reason at all.

Hm... I honestly haven't the slightest clue what the issue could be. Try using a proxy instead. For example:
http://hide-me.org/
Just type the URL directly into the textbox.

It works fine through the proxy and all, but the second I try switching over to hybrid mode, everything just hits a wall and spits back this:
The requested resource could not be loaded because the server returned an error: HTTP ERROR 500 (?).

Aha... They probably messed something up while migrating the forum to the new server. There's a ton of bugs like this happening. I don't think this has anything to do with that issue you mentioned earlier.

Hey,

I'm bumping this thread because, honestly, I’m still dealing with this exact same headache (yeah, even after two and a half 😁 and swapping out my laptop), and I’m really hoping someone might actually have a clue this time. I haven't been hanging out on the forums much lately—it just wasn't really on my radar—but now there are a few discussions I actually want to jump into, and the fact that I can't even browse threads or posts without everything breaking is driving me 🙂.

So, here's the deal: I've cycled through Mozilla, Chrome, Chrome incognito, and I even tried my luck with IE. It doesn't matter if I'm logged in or browsing as a guest; the result is always the same: certain threads, or even specific posts within a thread, just won't open. In Mozilla, I just get hit with a blank white screen, while Chrome and IE keep throwing this error at me:

The website encountered an error while retrieving http://www.example.com/showthread.php?t=423512. It may be down for maintenance or configured incorrectly.
Here are some suggestions:
Reload this webpage later.
HTTP ERROR 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

Am I doing something wrong here?

Thanks a million!

I mean, I don't think it’s actually on you, it’s probably just the servers acting up.
They have their own little quirks sometimes, and honestly, there were times when they were just way too much to handle. 🙂

It’s got its own little quirks, and sometimes it just gets totally overwhelmed by too many users at once. 🙂

Basically, what I'm asking is, can I just call up the local water department and complain that my pipes are busted? 😕 Or is there an actual human being in charge of this damn server who can actually get things running smoothly? Because I am not about to sit here playing games with this thing! 😢

Look, things are actually being worked on to fix the mess.
As for when it’ll all be sorted out... man, I honestly haven't got a clue.

Alright then, so there's still a glimmer of hope, I guess... Who knows, maybe we'll even see it happen this year? 😁 Anyway, thanks for the heads up!
