Joy Ride

Caught this horror-thriller on CBS last night around 11:30 PM. Honestly? It wasn't anything groundbreaking, but I guess it was decent enough to watch if you've got nothing else going on. 😁

So, Lewis Thomas (P. Walker) is this college kid playing the long game with a pretty girl named Venna (L. Sobieski), basically just waiting for his chance to finally make her his girlfriend. When a shot at making things official actually pops up, Lewis decides to hit the road to see Venna. But then his older brother Fuller (S. Zahn) gets himself stuck in jail again, which throws a massive wrench in his plans...

Paul ends up veering off course to bail his brother out, but that little detour turns into a total nightmare. See, Fuller convinces him to mess with some lonely trucker named Rusty Nail (voiced by Ted Levin) over the CB radio just for kicks. They have no clue who Rusty actually is, and before they know it, the two brothers are being hunted through the middle of nowhere by a complete psycho...

I caught about half of this movie once before and honestly, I wasn't feeling it—but after giving it a full watch yesterday, I was actually blown away. It’s funny how that works when you don't just jump in halfway through. To me, it carries some pretty strong vibes from "Jeepers Creepers" and "Duel." I went in expecting the critics to absolutely tear it apart, but I was genuinely surprised to see it sitting at a 74% "Fresh" rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and even its IMDB score isn't bad at all, hovering around a 6.6/10. 👍

Not really my thing, honestly. But if you promise me one thing... it kind of gives off those Jeepers Creepers vibes. At least, from what I can remember about that flick.
