Hello,
About a month ago, I twisted my knee while skiing. It swelled up immediately, and now I’m dealing with persistent, dull pain during heavy or prolonged activity. This isn't actually my first time dealing with this issue; I've had recurring injuries before. Usually, after a sprain, I rest for a month or two and then get right back into my sports routine. I stay pretty active.
The diagnosis I received—patellar medialization and ventralization along with lateral patellar instability—comes from Dr. Nemec.
Does anyone here have experience with this specific procedure? I’m wondering about the nature of the surgery itself, how critical it is to strengthen the stabilizing muscles before going under the knife, what the success rates look like, and what the recovery process entails.
I’ve tried everything to avoid surgery, but given how much wear and tear is happening to the joint, it looks like my only real option.
Thanks in advance for any insight.
