I actually started a whole separate thread back in the day about interpreting ancient American place names—you know, those pre-colonial roots... I'm pretty sure this was the link:

So, what gives? Why the hell did they wipe it out?

I can't help but wonder, why on earth did they delete it?

The only post you made that actually had some substance was moved over to the discussion on etymology. Your first two posts were basically just pointing people toward another forum, and honestly, we don't allow that kind of self-promotion here.

Yeah, you’ve got a point there. Honestly, it might actually make more sense to move this conversation over here:

Besides, this particular forum isn't exactly the best venue for deep dives into linguistics—from what I can tell, anyway—is it? It’s just a bunch of language purists...

This is an old topic, and honestly, I think it’s exactly where it needs to be right now. I might end up merging these two if I decide that makes more sense down the road.
