So... I've been sitting on this idea for quite a while now, thinking about getting a small stud piercing on my lower lip. I’ve pretty much exhausted the literature on the subject. I'm fully aware of the drill—finding a sterile studio, following the aftercare regimen, and keeping up with the creams once the initial healing phase settles in after about three weeks. But there is one thing I just cannot find any solid info on online... people keep insisting that a lip piercing carries some kind of cancer risk because of how it interacts with a specific nerve. They tell me this twenty times a day until I finally lost my cool. I told my family—my inner circle—that when they picked up cigarettes, they knew the cancer risk was there too. Thank God they didn't end up with it, but they’re still Hardcore Pusac smokers nonetheless. I want this piercing, and that's that.
To all the medical students and pro piercers out there... could you break it down for me in a few bullet points? How do I handle this the right way, and what specific things should I be looking for when I walk into a studio? I'd really rather not walk out with an unrequested gift like HIV.😍
P.S. I'm over 18, and despite everything I've read, that little voice of doubt is still nagging at me.👍
