So, does anyone know if Americans can walk into EU banks—say, in Germany—and actually get a loan on the exact same terms they offer Germans?

-For instance, I want to lease or finance a car in Germany, then just drive it back here. I’d be paying the German bank directly.

-Or another scenario: I want to buy property in the States, but I take out the mortgage through a German bank instead. That brings up the whole issue of collateral and how they'd secure the loan, right?

You could always just park $25,000 in a savings account and have them give you a $20,000 line of credit against it.
Or, you get a job at a major German corporation—think Walmart or Audi—work there for maybe 24 months, and then they'll grant you credit based on your salary.
