I guess I was wondering if there's a way to find out who closed the thread and what the reason was?

I’m actually quite curious about something. Why was my thread in the politics section shut down with a "stop posting about former President Bush" warning? I didn't have any malicious intent, nor was I trying to spam anyone. My take is simply that people get way too worked up over those specific posts; they end up hurling insults and venting without ever contributing anything substantive or creative. Is this forum really intended to foster these kinds of mindless arguments? The man stepped down, period. We should be looking toward the future rather than getting stuck on a single point in history.
If I've misunderstood the rules, please just explain things to me. Thanks.

Only the Moderators, Super-Moderators, or Administrators have the authority to lock a thread. When they do, there is usually a clear reason provided, which they often include in the final post of the closed topic.

It really gets under my skin when moderators use their power just to push their own personal agendas

I mean, look, I get it if they just lock a thread to keep things civil, but no—they always have to drop a massive paragraph about their own opinions right before they shut the whole thing down...
