Logitech issues

I’m running into a real headache trying to install Windows 7 on my new rig. Everything works perfectly fine while I'm sitting in the BIOS and during the initial setup stages, but the second it asks me to type in a username, my Logitech mouse and keyboard just go completely dead on me! I've already tried swapping out the ports and messing around with all sorts of settings in the Asus BIOS, but nothing seems to work—it's driving me absolutely crazy...

Did you try enabling Legacy USB support or something similar in the BIOS?

I mean, I’m just going to go ahead and install Windows 10; honestly, messing around with Windows 7 feels like a losing battle since half my gear probably won't even be supported anymore anyway.

If you’ve plugged everything into USB 3.0 ports, it makes sense that Windows 7 isn't picking them up—it's just that without specific drivers, those 3.0 ports are basically invisible. Since Windows 7 dates all the way back to 2009, most motherboards from that era weren't really built with USB 3.0 in mind. If you're really set on sticking with Windows 7, though, I'm sure your motherboard still has some standard USB 2.0 ports you can use instead.

Nah, I actually plugged them into the USB 2.0 ports, finished installing Windows 10, and they’re working fine now. The catch is that my internet isn't connecting, none of my secondary hard drives are showing up, and there's absolutely no sound. I'm totally stumped because I've already installed all the drivers, so I have no clue what's going on.

Regarding that hard drive issue—you just need to head into Disk Management and "initialize" the second drive there. As for the sound and internet problems, I'm not entirely sure... if you're certain the drivers are already installed, maybe you accidentally toggled something off in the BIOS while you were messing around with the USB settings?

All fixed! It looks like the driver was the culprit all along.
