How do you even begin to explain that feeling when you lose something—or someone—and it’s only then that the gravity of it actually hits you? It’s like you didn't realize how much they meant until there's nothing left.

Maybe it's just ego if we're talking about a person, 😕 or pure selfishness if it was just an object. 😢

Honestly, if you try to list everything and everyone you truly care about—the stuff you'd grab first if you had to move across the country tomorrow—and something doesn't make that list, then you probably didn't actually need it or care that much. But still, sometimes you find yourself wanting it anyway... just for the sake of having it. 😕

*Unless we're talking about prescription meds.

I don't know, I'm kind of leaning towards saying that if someone doesn't appreciate what they have while they've actually got it, they aren't really going to value it once it's gone either. Sure, maybe they'll go ahead and bash their head against a wall thinking, "Man, how did I miss that?" but honestly... deep down, even with the regret, that person still just doesn't get it. They're still totally clueless.
