Hey everyone, what's up.
My bad if I posted this in the wrong spot. Mod, can you move this to the right sub?
My Macbook Pro is acting up again. Here's the deal:
Just yanked this laptop out of a box it’s been sitting in for like a year. Plugged it in, juiced it up, and called it a day.
Man, I haven't touched this thing in forever and now I'm totally locked out because I blanked on my password. Total nightmare.
I was scouring the web for ways to reset my password and stumbled onto this advice.
When you're booting up, hit Command+S. As soon as that cursor pops up, type it exactly like this:
Just run `mount -uw /` then this line:
Just run rm /var/db/.AppleSetupDone and you're good to go for the next one.
Kill the power. Right now.
So I did it. My laptop totally wiped itself—must've hit a factory reset or something because I had to set up my whole user profile from scratch. Total pain.
Man, while I was clicking through all those settings, the trackpad just completely died on me. Total junk. I had to hack my way through using the key under Caps Lock to swap options and hitting Space to confirm everything. What a joke.
Once I finally finished setting up my profile, the home screen actually loaded up fine.
The trackpad moves the cursor just fine, but clicking? Absolute zero. Nothing. Just dead air.
Everything’s frozen. Can't click anything, can't select anything... nothing works.
And get this—it gets even weirder. I plugged the charger in and now it won’t even charge... nothing.
I've been scouring the web looking for some actual help, but honestly? All those "tips" I found were total garbage. Zero help.
Tried the PRAM and SMC reset, still absolutely nothing. Total waste of time.
Anyone got any tips for fixing my clicking issues? It's driving me insane.
