macOS themes and styles

Does anyone know how to restore my macOS styles and themes under the appearance settings? Right now, I'm stuck with just the classic look; everything else seems to have vanished for some reason 😕. I suspect this might be why my desktop wallpaper looks a bit off. Thanks.

You're missing the Aqua theme for macOS... maybe just search Google and download it? I think the Aqua package actually includes those three original macOS styles...

Just drop them into X:\macOS\Resources\Themes

I sorted out those themes, so there's no need to download anything. However, the font rendering still looks off; ever since I switched to a widescreen LCD, it hasn't sat right with me. I've realized I'm not the only one dealing with this. Any thoughts? It worked perfectly on my old desktop, though I suspect that machine was running a Pro version while this one is just Home edition. Could that be it? I really hope it isn't a GPU issue, because that would be a disaster.

Check your resolution settings. You absolutely have to set it to whatever the native resolution is for your specific monitor—every LCD has a sweet spot where it actually looks decent. Since you're using a widescreen, it'll be one of those standard formats...

Maybe try updating your graphics card and monitor drivers; that might just fix everything. 👍

I did, though it still didn't quite hit the mark. I eventually managed to tweak things using a utility like ClearType—it’s specifically designed to sharpen up fonts on LCD monitors. It seems to be a more widespread issue than just a one-off.

Maybe try using something like the AlienGUIse theme from www.alienware.com. You might also need to mess with your resolution settings if they're acting up for some reason. I’m running a widescreen setup too, currently set at 1280x800, so it might be worth checking if your screen depth is off. Or, honestly, it could just be the font type itself... 😉
