Wan has proven himself to be a true master of horror. Honestly, he might even be the best director working in Hollywood right now, especially considering his run through the 2000s, and I have zero doubts that this next project is going to be another winner. Just look at how much of a letdown The Conjuring 3 was without him behind the camera.

Well, that was a complete curveball!

I honestly can’t remember the last time a narrator in a movie left me that shaken up.

I watched it yesterday, and I'm still getting chills.

I have nothing but praise for this one. The story is so original, the score is haunting, and the direction takes such a refreshing approach to how you shoot a horror flick...

And what else is there to say? It's James Wan!

I'm definitely going to watch this again. You guys should seriously check it out!

Seriously, if you’re looking for a legit horror movie—just run the other way. The first two acts are basically just a checklist of every tired genre cliché ever, but then—oh my god—this twist hits in the final act that had me laughing out loud for like ten minutes straight. It’s wild that someone would actually make a campy trash comedy like this in 2021, because let me tell you, this definitely isn't horror.
There's plenty of gore early on, but by the end, they crank it up to eleven alongside one of the absolute dumbest twists I've ever seen.
If you went into this knowing it was meant to be ridiculous, then sure, it gets a passing grade from me since I had fun with it—it fits right in with that cult trash vibe like >. But if you were actually expecting a serious movie... yikes.

Mark White11, man, based on how you described it, I totally thought it was gonna be some funny horror flick with a bit of a kick.

I'm constantly struggling with insomnia, and honestly, I don't need anything too brainy. I'm just low-key stoked for the next review—it's the highlight of my week. I need something intense, you know? Like a sci-fi horror thriller... mmm... maybe something with aliens... ugh... like some weird thing trying to steal something... *zzzz*...🙂

I always end up nodding off right before the tension builds up 🥱 where 🙂

Alright then. 🐔 At the very least, I can confidently assert that there wasn't a single moment where I found myself gripped by boredom. 😁

The only thing that actually annoyed me—aside from the couple two seats over having a full-blown argument—was the music they cranked up at certain points. Was the director really trying to make a point there? Give me a break...

It's hard to tell, isn't it? Is the actor playing the detective just an amateur, or is he simply bad at his job? I haven't seen any of his other work, so I honestly can't say.

I’d say seeing this on the big screen was 100% worth it, even if AMC Theatres decided to hike up their ticket prices again... 🎉

Tedious and frankly quite dull. If they could at least manage some decent action toward the end, it might have been tolerable.

Look at this wave of glowing reviews on IMDb, comparing it to Braindead and whatnot. Seriously, were we even watching the same movie? The first two-thirds are an absolute disaster, made even worse by atrocious acting, only to hit you with a twist that feels like a mild stroke. If I read one more person claim this was "intentional," I’m going to lose it. Even if it was, it’s painfully bad.

Does a movie carry more weight if I claim it’s inspired by a true story?

As silly as that might sound.

I actually wish this had been folded into The Conjuring Universe... though it probably would have worked better with a bit more tension and a little less action.

For my part, I’d categorize this as an above-average horror flick. To be honest, it leaned more toward being shocking and darkly amusing rather than genuinely terrifying. It’s highly unconventional and creative—definitely something fresh in a genre that often feels recycled. I have to admit I found it quite entertaining, even if the first half dragged a bit and could have used a much tighter pace or more substantial action. That said, the plot twist was excellent, and it's certainly going to stick with me. 7/10.

Spoiler alert. If you haven't seen it yet, just skip this.

In the first few minutes, it’s pretty obvious that Madison is pulling the strings. I guess the only part that actually felt like a decent plot twist was the whole parasitic twin thing. For a second there—maybe because of how she looked—I actually thought we were dealing with some kind of split personality, someone wearing a mask because they’d undergone facial reconstruction after being deformed as a child.
The limb contortions and those acrobatic stunts—stuff even a pro parkour athlete couldn't pull off—were... something. .
All things considered, nothing particularly spectacular.

Honestly, this is one of the better movies I've seen in a while. Definitely worth a watch.

Honestly, just go watch Evil Dead instead of this. It’s easily twice as good, and honestly? It’s basically a cult classic Japanese horror staple.
