The topic title is seriously hurting my eyes with that random capital J sitting right in the middle. I’m honestly just craving a quote from Lancet 🤣

Sorry for the off-topic tangent... 🙂

It’s not just about the rise in mental health issues; we're seeing a spike in those among people using marijuana, too.

Then there's the lung damage.

Marijuana is medicinal. It treats countless ailments, which is why Big Pharma banned it just to protect their billions in profits...

Ugh, I live for conspiracy theories 😬

It’s honestly wild how every single study seems to come up with a completely different set of results. I wouldn't be surprised if half of it is just cooked up to sell more newspapers. 😁
Anyway, if the data is that inconsistent, why on earth would anyone even consider using it for medical purposes?
And one more thing: has anyone here actually ever heard of someone dying from a marijuana overdose?

Well, you can always just bake some cookies and pretend the lung damage isn't happening...

The whole reason the Lancet study used a meta-analysis is because they actually baked in the data from previous research.

In my experience, people who constantly smoke Marijuana eventually just become... well, blentav. It’s like they lose their edge on every possible level of existence. It’s hard to put into words, really. But you can always spot a regular smoker. It’s like their brain just burns out. Who knows...

It is truly fascinating to observe how these people insist on presenting their "new" and "revolutionary" discoveries as if they were groundbreaking, despite the fact that I had already mastered the subject last autumn, much as previous generations did long before us. Honestly, I could probably post such an observation myself... for the tenth time in a row. 🙄

The reason for that is that a layer of "something"—I really should double-check the exact scientific term so I don't sound foolish—builds up on your brain cells. I am talking about the cells responsible for memory, logic, combinatorics, and whatever else makes us functional. This buildup takes time to clear out. Of course, the amount of time required to cleanse those cells is directly proportional to how much Marijuana you have consumed over a consistent period. For instance, if you were to smoke just one joint, that residue might dissipate in less than a week, meaning you'd return to your baseline intelligence levels fairly quickly. However, if one smokes daily for several months, such a significant accumulation can occur that it might take two or three years to clear. And even once it does, is there any guarantee you will be exactly the same person you were before? 😵

As far as my memory serves me, that buildup is some kind of fatty substance or something similar; if anyone happens to know the specific term, please feel free to share, as I cannot seem to locate the exact name...👍

You're the first one to bring up conspiracy theories in this thread. 😁

By the way, that feeling like everyone is constantly plotting against you? That’s actually one of the classic red flags for psychosis. 😲 😉

Up until now, you could pretty much guarantee one thing: users lose all their drive and end up completely apathetic, even weeks after they've stopped. But now, these scientific papers are coming out with even more significant—and frankly, depressing—research results.

Even though cannabinoids are used medically (Marinol) to help with nausea or boost appetite, smoking Marijuana remains sporadically decriminalized and is only legal in select parts of the USA, mostly because we lack sufficient studies. These recent findings should make the decision on whether or not to use it for medical purposes a whole lot clearer.

Yeah, I know a few people who are heavy users. Blentav doesn't even begin to cover it. 🙂

Marijuana is a drug, plain and simple. Go ahead, try to light one up and see what happens. I don't touch the stuff myself, but I know plenty of people who do. I’ve seen guys come home high and start making threats against their wives and kids, thinking they can just run to the police station and serve some time to get out of it.

Didn't really feel like writing a whole post, but this part I bolded caught my eye..
As a medical professional, I did my rotations in psych and addiction wards in Chicago.
We’d have these long talks with the head nurses and social workers.. one session lasted an hour and a half..
And what we learned... man, I wish I had a recorder so I could play it for you guys.
Then you wouldn't be talking such nonsense.
Look, dear, saying you can overdose on Marijuana and die sounds ridiculous right now, and you probably think you're being smart by saying it, but it's not that simple.

Using Marijuana definitely contributes to mental health issues—looking at you, schizophrenia and chronic depression.
If you look at the stats, a huge number of people with those diagnoses were constant Marijuana users before moving on to harder stuff.
No, Marijuana isn't harmless, especially if there's an underlying foundation like depression or life problems where you don't see a way out.
It's time to stop with the stories about how Marijuana cleans your lungs or whatever. You're not just talking trash, you're spreading misinformation that naive people might actually believe.
Believe it or not.. it all depends on that foundation, your mental state, and your emotional headspace when you start using substances. Those factors make it much more likely that a person will keep going and move on to much stronger stuff.
I get that someone might light up just for fun, maybe two or three times a year, without any real issues.. there's a low chance of addiction there, no "foundation" involved.
But if you talk to most addicts in the ward, 95% started with Marijuana, 95% had an underlying issue, and 95% have major problems now.

And you still think Marijuana is harmless?
Grow up.

These are basically the words of a head nurse, which is what I could remember right now.. after listening for ninety minutes, if I put in more effort, I'd remember the rest.

Look, I don't have any personal experience with Marijuana beyond what I read online.
It's not like I'm planning on becoming an active user or anything. I've heard plenty of times—and I get it—that Marijuana isn't harmless, but there's a massive difference between that and the harder stuff.
I get the argument that long-term use "numbs" your brain, but honestly, I've never actually heard of anyone dying just because they smoked too much one night. 😕

I'm totally on board with everything else you said. 👍

By the way, I wasn't trying to act like a genius here. This subforum is a bit different; I come here to read or ask for advice from people who actually have some real-world knowledge and experience.

I honestly don't see what the damn problem is, provided you don't overdo it. If you aren't overdoing it, it doesn't lead to addiction, and it certainly doesn't turn you into some psycho—shit... I tried it once... and here I am... looking... waiting... nothing happens.

Oh, please. Don't lie. You guys grow Marijuana on an industrial scale out in Columbus—you’ve definitely smoked plenty and you're just too embarrassed to admit it.
I've smoked enough Marijuana in my life to know it's genuinely dangerous. It wrecks your short-term memory permanently and leads to psychological issues. Still, there are some "benefits" I wouldn't bring up right now, but... for one reason or another, I end up smoking it maybe five or six times a year. I definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone—at least not until they finish school or develop a bit more character.

That bolded part is spot on. But obviously, we aren't growing it right in the middle of downtown Columbus—it's happening in the outskirts. 🙂
And for the record, I’ve never touched the stuff. I'm not lying. I just don't have any reason to.

I absolutely agree with this; Marijuana will wreck your memory beyond repair, and regarding those with unformed characters—I agree there too. That's where you find the highest number of addicts, usually kids who start messing around with it at the beginning of high school. The teenage years carry so many downsides—conflicts with parents, peers, issues at school—and then kids start smoking because they see it as "good," thinking it helps them forget their problems or relax. But they relax way too much, which creates a mountain of new problems that Marijuana can no longer mask, leading them to try something even stronger. At that point, you've completely ruined your life, ending up in a commune at best, or six feet under at worst...
I didn't start smoking weed as a kid; in fact, I actually looked down on it. But once I matured a bit and realized I was at a stage where I could actually control it, rather than being constantly overwhelmed by it, I started smoking...

I just want to say that if you aren't sure—or if you suspect you might not be able to handle its effects—you should never even attempt to try it (speaking generally). Because if you do, you'll end up destroying yourself and your entire life...

Take me, for example; I smoke Marijuana consistently (not every single day or even every week, but a few times a month or so). I do it exactly as much as I want and when I want. Marijuana doesn't dictate my schedule; I decide when and how much, and it's not that I'm forcing myself to stay sober, it's just that I simply don't feel the need for it. However, it also makes no sense to lie and say that lighting up isn't enjoyable, or that it's some terrible experience that inevitably leads to death...
By the way, to make the effect stronger and to avoid taxing my body and brain as much, I stopped drinking and smoking cigarettes just so I could enjoy a session occasionally. And if we are talking about dangers, the danger in Marijuana lies only with the person who doesn't know what it is and doesn't know how to control it—that's when the drug "takes" you....

Personally, if I noticed it was harming me or causing negative changes in my life, I would stop smoking for a while to see how things improve. But again, I wouldn't quit entirely if everything continued to flow normally; I'd still light up a joint every now and then...

And look, I can't exactly lie and say I have a set number of days per month when I smoke and that's it. In fact, I'm happy to spark up when I'm out with friends in a social setting where people smoke, even if I hadn't planned on it, though I still make sure not to go overboard...

Do you see my point?
