Look, if the mods find this annoying, feel free to just shut the thread down, but I’ve noticed something—and I’m pretty sure most of you here feel the exact same way.

Take these couples, right? They’re all head over heels, deeply in love, or whatever. And suddenly, their Meta feed is absolutely flooded with a million photos of them together, hugging, being all mushy... and what really gets under my skin is how they *have* to have a profile picture where they’re posed together or kissing. Seriously, how does that even work? Are they mid-makeout session when the shutter clicks? Or is there just a mom or a grandma standing there with a camera waiting for the perfect moment? I honestly don't get it...

And then there’s the late-night stuff. You’re scrolling through the Wall and you see people posting "goodnight," "sleep tight," "love you," or "thinking of you" for the whole world to see.

Given that all that romantic fluff could easily be sent via private chat, a quick text, or even a DM... my question is:

WHY, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO FLEX THEIR RELATIONSHIPS AND ACT SO SELF-IMPORTANT ABOUT THEIR LOVE LIVES?

Honestly, this thread belongs in the teen section. ☕

And I can't help but think people who act like this just didn't get enough attention from their parents growing up, so now they need to prove to the world that someone actually cares about them...

I mean, wouldn't everyone just... not do that? Like, if you're under 18, why even bother? You could just hit that hide option or whatever and just scrub them from your friends list entirely. Simple, right?
I don't even know why we're arguing about this, honestly. Like, what’s even the point of this whole thread? I really don't see it. ☕

Was this originally posted on the EPA? LOL. Just one. 🤦

Honestly, looking at some of the toxic garbage being posted on there lately, this topic actually seems pretty decent.

And for the record, I’m not talking about kids—these people aren't even eighteen yet, which is exactly what makes this whole thing such a tragedy!

I just don't get why everyone has this massive, deep-seated complex where they feel the need to constantly nag people about being in a relationship; it's like they think someone is somehow less valuable if they're flying solo.

And who says they’re doing it for anyone else? If they’ve been talking to all their friends like that this whole time, why would it be any different online?! 😕

Personally, I always stick to the idea that it’s my Meta account, MY Meta account, and I have every right to do whatever I want with it... if I want to post a nude photo, that's on me. If you can't handle it, just unfriend me..

Meta has basically become an extension of RL, and people act there exactly how they’d act in person.. You don't seriously think couples kissing on a street corner are doing it just to rub it in someone's face or show off how perfect they are, right? 🙄

An extension of RL? Please. 😕 😂

Personally, I’ve always stood my ground on the fact that Meta is MY Meta, and I should have the right to do whatever the hell I want on my own profile. If I decide to post a nude photo, that's my business... if you can't handle it, just unfriend me.

Meta has essentially become an extension of RL, and people behave there exactly how they would in person. You don't honestly think couples kissing on a street corner are doing it just to rub it in everyone else's faces or prove how perfect they are, do you? 🙄

I really can't get behind the idea that it's an extension of RL.
If I want to tell my girlfriend I miss her, I'll send her a text. If I have a photo of us, I'm keeping it on my computer for privacy—why does everyone need to be looking at it? If I want to wish her goodnight, I'll call her or send a DM. I just don't get the need to put it on the Wall for the whole world to see.
Honestly, I think it stems from deep-seated insecurities, because in today's society, being single (or even just keeping your love life private) is treated like something abnormal. Everyone feels this massive pressure to broadcast their happiness at full volume just so nobody mistakenly thinks they're gay, frustrated, or somehow "broken."

What's your take on all this?

Take a good look at your friends' profiles... you'll figure it out eventually.

Ethan Thomas10 said:I don't see it as a sequel to RL.
If I want to tell her I miss her, I’ll just shoot her a text. If I have a photo of us, that stays tucked away on my hard drive—it's private, why should everyone else be staring at it? Same goes for saying goodnight; I'll give her a call or slide into her DMs. I honestly don't get the point of posting it all on Meta. Like, does the whole world really need to see that?
Honestly, I think it’s all just deep-seated insecurity. In today's culture, being single—or even just keeping your private life under wraps—is treated like some kind of red flag. Everyone feels this massive pressure to broadcast their "perfect" happiness at full volume, almost like they're terrified that if they don't, someone might jump to conclusions about them being gay or just totally repressed. It's exhausting to watch.

So, what's the verdict? What do you guys think?

What’s normal to you isn't what's normal to them... I've seen people posting statuses just coordinating hookups or gushing about how great the sex was. So, where does that leave us? It's just a million different people with a million different ways of acting weird. 🤷

It’s honestly just like when you’re picking a fight with an ex and you decide to post some passive-aggressive status or comment, knowing full well they’re going to see it... that’s exactly what’s happening here. Everything is being put out there in public solely because they want an audience to read it, all so they can rub it in everyone's faces and show off how much of a romantic or sexual life they supposedly have.

People just love broadcasting their massive amounts of affection to the entire world😍

I find it pretty ridiculous too, but hey, everyone’s got their own little way of being happy, I guess...

Oh, and it just crossed my mind, there was this rumor going around about a friend of mine and some guy she's seeing. They’ve actually been walking together for two years now. And then everyone starts acting so surprised, wondering how it can even be a "real" relationship when nothing is posted on Meta 🤦 And look, we aren't eighteen. Not even close. We're more like, well, over ten plus...

It honestly drives me crazy, too—seeing people acting like they’re still fifteen years old when they’re clearly well into their twenties and dealing with the exact same issues 😠
I suppose they’re probably still riding that high 🙄 right up until the honeymoon phase inevitably dies down and they’re forced to face reality 🤣

The obsession with Meta is generally idiotic. Constant questioning about who has an account and who doesn't.
People need to get a life.
My favorite part is when I reach out to someone—asking how they are or what’s new—only to be told everything is on Meta. Who actually lives like that? 😕
It is nothing more than a mindless fixation on that platform.
I find it hilarious reading articles about some couple getting married, only to see them update their relationship status on Meta immediately after the "I do." 😵

Honestly, I don't really get the whole Meta thing. I’m only on there because my college sends out notifications about campus events or parties.

It feels like pure insecurity to me. When people feel ignored by the world, they try to force themselves into the spotlight with these super cringey statuses and random photos just to be noticed.

And don't even get me started on those "lovey-dovey" posts and couple selfies. It makes me nauseous. Just go hang out in private and deal with it instead of making everyone else aware of how thirsty and desperate you are... 🤣

Also—if someone like Taylor Swift has a profile, why is her picture always some shot of her clinging to her boyfriend? Yeah, sure, you're together, but you aren't literally the same person. Use a solo photo and show that you're actually an individual... ☕

Falling in love isn't some spiritual awakening; it’s just a chemical imbalance in your brain.
One side effect is that desperate urge to broadcast your "nuclear" romance to the entire world.
There's really no cure for it.

Unless you let time do its thing.
Once they've had their blowout fights, pulled their hair out, and nearly lost their minds, the chemistry eventually resets. Then, they finally realize they were acting like complete idiots.
Until the next time, anyway.

Since you can say all those romantic things in a private chat, via text, or just a direct message... my question is:

WHY IN THE WORLD DO PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO BRAG AND SHOW OFF THEIR RELATIONSHIPS SO CONSTANTLY?

First off, all that bitterness sounds a little bit like jealousy to me. 😉
Second, not every couple acts like that.
My partner and I have one photo together, and we never post mushy stuff on Meta or anywhere else where everyone can read it.
