I can't remember the last time I actually started a new thread just for a show, but since a good chunk of you guys interested in this stuff usually skip over Jesse Sanchez60's concert threads, I figured I'd just make my own. This felt right.

The legendary Canadian prog-thrash legends Voivod are finally hitting the US for the first time!

Ever since they kicked things off back in '82, these guys have always been chasing something different. They basically took that British heavy metal influence and mashed it up with progressive rock and the hardcore punk explosion that was tearing through North America at the time. That hunger for experimenting is exactly what pulled them out of the pack of typical thrash bands. Plus, their lyrics were on another level—always diving into that classic struggle between humanity and the tech that's trying to take over the world.

They dropped five absolute bangers by the end of the eighties, and honestly, they're all legendary. Nothingface They hit it big commercially, then went on this massive tour across the States. They were actually opening for some bands that were about to completely flip the script on what rock music sounded like. Faith No More I'm here. Ready when you are. Soundgarden.

The nineties were a total roller coaster with people coming and going constantly, but they finally managed to stick with the original lineup through the 2000s. Snake, Piggy I think you might have cut off there. What was on your mind? AwaySo, they sat down with the former Metallica bassist—who’s also a massive fan himself. Jason NewstedLosing Piggy was a massive blow that basically put the band on ice for a while. But after they dropped "Infini" in 2009 as a tribute to him, they finally got back out on the road—and even reunited the original lineup with Blacky on bass and their new guitarist. Dan Mograina Just stepping in to fill the shoes left by the late Piggy.

One of the most legendary bands in Canadian rock history is finally hitting the stage. Even guys like Dave Grohl worship them, so if you’re a fan of Voivod, you seriously can't miss this. It's been decades in the making.

Tickets start at... $40 You can grab them at Dirty Old Shop or Rockmark. They'll be right there at the entrance. $50Doors open at 8:00 PM and the show kicks off at 9:30.

That concert was a total joke in Chicago. Koca spent the whole time hyping them up using nothing but Dave Grohl’s praise... just pure Dave Grohl promo spam everywhere. 😬

hahaha I highly doubt Grohl actually digs NMN... I don't usually bring this stuff up, but seeing him with those wild eyes talking about how Metallica changed his life? Priceless. 😍

Maybe I'll finally catch Seven Wonders after failing to see them three times in a row whenever they played in Chicago.

Look, he’s just that inherently likable guy who’s a massive fan of every great band out there, always talking about them with that wide-eyed, kid-like enthusiasm... In that Lemmy documentary, he was easily the most entertaining person they interviewed, even among the rock stars 🙂 (well, maybe aside from Billy Bob Thornton)

He’s so charming and genuinely sweet that everyone just collectively decided he’s a drumming genius because of it. 😳

The only thing is, it feels a bit pointless how these giveaway organizers wait until the absolute last second to make an announcement. If you miss out on the prize, you’ve basically missed the pre-sale window too—assuming you were actually planning on breaking the bank or dipping into your savings to grab one anyway.

A standard paycheck just doesn't cut it when you're trying to support the scene. 😉

Yeah, it sucks, but it’s the truth... we sold about seventy tickets, so we’re looking at maybe a hundred people total...

Once they saw the numbers, the agent and the band asked me to find a smaller, more intimate spot. Luckily, the guys over at local dive bars were cool enough to help us out... I know, I know, sorry for ditching the arena, but this is honestly way better for the band and their small group of die-hard fans here in the States. They decided this was the move.

Honestly, would I even want that kind of money if we weren't stuck in this miserable weather? That's why I'm staying broke.

Look, I’m honestly 🤔 feeling a strangely low level of interest here. I can easily just grab a ticket at the gate when I show up... if there had been any way to book this online, I would have pulled the trigger immediately...

So, you mean nothing from Seven isn't happening in the end? That's a real shame. I was actually looking forward to seeing that unfold...
