Moderating vs. Locking Threads

Hey there,

I’m looking to get this thread locked—and just to be crystal clear, I’m not the one who started it, which is exactly what I already said. That wasn't the intention of the post at all.

I actually reached out about ten days ago—first to phiber, then to rustydrifter10.
It honestly feels like there's some kind of personal vendetta going on here, because frankly, how else am I supposed to read into the fact that my posts and requests are being completely ignored?

Look, my mistake was sending those via PM instead of posting publicly—I get it, I should have been more direct on the board. My bad.

All I asked for was either for the thread to be moderated properly or just shut down entirely. Neither thing happened.
That thread turned into a total circus, and before you know it, I became the main target of the discussion—which was never the point of the conversation in the first place.
To protect my kid—because heaven forbid they grow up and stumble upon this mess while browsing the web later—it would be great if that whole thread could just be deleted.
I’m asking this specifically for my child's sake, and I’d like to think a major platform like this values those kinds of principles. 🙂

I realize everyone is probably out enjoying their summer vacations, but even so, this isn't right.

Look, I already told you in my message that we don't just delete threads because someone asks us to. I really have no desire to end up debating the same thing in two different places, so let me just lay it out here one more time so we can close this chapter: just because you aren't a fan of where the conversation is heading, or because the discussion didn't go exactly how you pictured it in your head, isn't a valid reason to wipe the thread. You can't really force other users on the forum to write exactly what you want them to; that's just not how these communities work. As long as the thread stays within the spirit of our site guidelines—meaning no doxxing, no constant rule-breaking, no being abusive, and no spinning in circles until the topic is totally dead—there’s absolutely no need to hit the delete button.
