Monitor issues

I just got my computer back after a macOS reinstallation a few days ago, and ever since, I've been having issues with my monitor. The screen keeps flickering, and it's most noticeable when I'm watching videos or looking at photos. It frequently cuts out entirely, then just pops back on after a few seconds. It’s incredibly irritating 🤷
I'm honestly lost here. What could even be causing this kind of problem?

I'm not entirely sure if that was it, but I suspect the refresh rate might be the culprit... try checking where you set the resolution—maybe tweak the frequency to somewhere around 50-60Hz

It’d be helpful if you actually specified which monitor and GPU you’re running... otherwise, we're all just playing a guessing game here. My best guess? You probably just need to install the proper drivers for both the card and the monitor, then your problems should clear up.

I tried uploading the chocolate photo... but it failed again... actually, it looks even worse now 😁 thanks anyway....

My monitor is an old Samsung SyncMaster 793DF and my graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200...
That should be everything... I don't know much about computers myself 😁

Right-click on your desktop, hit Properties, then go to Settings > Advanced > Monitor > Monitor settings. From that dropdown menu, just grab the highest refresh rate available—say, 85 Hertz—and click Apply and OK. 🙂
