Monitor stand issues

Is there any way to physically lower the height of an LCD monitor? I'm working with a Dell UltraSharp 24 and I've been messing around with the stand trying to get it to sit lower, but I haven't had any luck so far... does anyone know if there's a workaround? I'm just trying to slide it under this desk shelf, but I am literally missing a centimeter of clearance by a hair...

So, how do you pull that off without being rude about how it looks? I guess maybe you could just sarcastically suggest ditching the entire base altogether. You could try mounting the screen on some custom stand—like, build two wooden legs with grooves carved out to fit the thickness of the panel. You’d probably need to cut those slots at a specific angle so the screen sits at whatever height or viewing angle you find ideal.

I honestly went into this thinking there might be some kind of height adjustment built into the stand, but it turns out they didn't even consider adding that feature...

Some manufacturers definitely are.
