Motherboard issues

Hey,

So, a lightning strike just fried my rig. Now the ethernet port is dead and one of the USB ports is totally toasted. The weirdest part? When I try to shut the damn thing down, the hard drive stops spinning, but everything else—GPU, CPU, you name it—just keeps running like nothing happened. It’s driving me nuts.
I'm honestly not sure if the power supply took a hit too, or if it's just the motherboard acting up.
Anyone got any leads on a decent replacement? I'm fine with something new or even some used parts if they aren't complete junk.

HDD - Hitachi HDP725016GLA SCSI
CPU - Phenom 955 BE
GPU - Radeon 6770
RAM - 4GB 1333
PSU - OCZ Fatality 550W

Look, why bother buying used when you can grab a brand new Giga 970 a for the price of three or four beers?

He might be willing to drop the price to $150. It’s a decent Intel Core i7 if you push the overclocking a bit, plus there are still two years left on the warranty.

The second option is a brand-new 970A-DS3P. I mean, I know buying the new one is probably the easier route, but I think I’ll try to haggle for the used one first since it’s actually better 😬

Honestly, my motherboard is just acting total garbage right now. It’s nothing crazy, I don't need anything fancy—I just need to swap out this broken piece of junk so I can get back online. Besides, I’m probably gonna end up pulling the trigger on a whole new rig in like two years anyway. Right now, I just need my damn internet working again.

Well... you might be able to find something cheaper then. I guess there's no real point in going for AMD AM4 since Intel will likely drop a new platform and some fresh processors before you know it.

If you feel like playing the haggling game with them to score a deal on used gear, it might be worth it since the motherboard is a step up. Plus, if you’re already building a new rig, you don’t necessarily have to swap out every single component. Your processor is still pretty decent; if you pair it with a high-quality motherboard (like the one on Craigslist), you could actually get some respectable overclocking out of that Phenom and slap in a much beefier GPU. But if you’re truly looking to overhaul the whole system, just grab a top-tier motherboard right now so you aren't stuck worrying about it later. So, it's either that Craigslist option or OVO if you're going all new
