Motherboard standoffs

Are these things actually essential?

The mounting holes are already there—they line up perfectly with the motherboard layout. In my head, I’ve always figured you just throw spacers in there by default... but if I use them here, the whole board is going to sit way too high off the chassis.

First time I'm hearing about this 😁 I know some cases—like my Corsair 200R—come with a pre-installed standoff right in the middle of the motherboard. It's there to stop the board from wobbling while you're trying to tighten the other screws, but honestly? These extra spacers seem like a total waste of space 😵 and you definitely don't need them if you're worried about shorting out the board. The only way you'd actually fry your hardware is if you left an extra standoff sitting in the case where there isn't even a screw hole for it...

So, honestly? This whole thing is just unnecessary...

I’ve always been a firm believer in using standoffs—that’s honestly what they were designed for in the first place! I mean, unless you happen to find a case that comes with its own built-in mounting system—which, frankly, I haven't run into yet—it's just standard practice. You might want to take a closer look at how those motherboard connectors line up against the back of the chassis. They really need to seat perfectly through those slots on the I/O shield. It's worth checking whether everything sits more flush or aligns better when you actually use the standoffs versus leaving them out.

The chassis has its own little quirks... but we managed to get all 9 bolts perfectly aligned with the mounting holes on the motherboard.
We finally got everything lined up and squared away.

Oh, my bad—sorry about that! I guess I used the wrong term; back home we just call them spacers, but honestly, I’ve always just called them standoffs, just like people do here in the States. That’s exactly what they’re for, right? You can't really mount a motherboard properly without using them... So, the main thing is that you guys got everything assembled correctly 😁
