Hi there

I'm looking for some advice. I'm thinking about picking up a PC specifically for playing FPS games like Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. My budget is pretty tight, so I’m definitely not expecting a high-end powerhouse here.

I was wondering what kind of setup I could get for around $1167 or maybe a little more. To be honest, I don't know much about how all this hardware works or how the process goes. Can you actually order a pre-built system? That part is a bit tricky for me. Is it possible to have it delivered straight to my door, fully assembled and ready to go? 🙂

Thanks in advance 🙂

Are you planning to pay cash upfront or maybe go with a financing plan? Also, do you need the extra gear—like a monitor, mouse, and keyboard—or are you just looking to put together a standalone $1167 tower?

I'm paying cash; that's just for the "trash bin." 🙂

NVIDIA GeForce GTX series
2x Corsair case fans
Seagate 1TB 3.5'' drive
EVGA 450W Bronze PSU
GIGABYTE Motherboard with NVIDIA chipset
LC Power 90mm CPU cooler
Intel Core i5 processor
Silver gaming chassis (no PSU included)
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1866 CL10

Total: $3,542.91 on Google

The graphics card is slightly weaker, I guess, but it comes with better fans and a nicer case featuring a USB 3.0 header😬

If you aren't planning on upgrading anytime soon:

1x Intel Pentium
1x Gigabyte motherboard
1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950
1x 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1866MHz
1x 1TB Western Digital hard drive, 3.5", 7200RPM, 32MB Cache, USB 3.0
1x 450W 80+ Bronze power supply
1x Mid tower case

TOTAL: $1190

Now, if you actually intend to upgrade later (maybe move up to an Intel Core i5 or an AMD Radeon later on), go with this:

1x Intel Pentium
1x ASUS motherboard
1x 8GB Corsair DDR3 1600MHz
1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950
1x 500GB Western Digital hard drive, 3.5''
1x 500W Corsair power supply
1x Mid tower case (no power supply included)

Total: $1175

Honestly, either setup is more than enough to run Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.

Thanks for all the advice, everyone, and sorry if I've been a bit much 😁 But I was wondering what kind of budget I'd need to put together a build featuring
Intel Core i5
and
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960 🙂

Not really, $500 more like a 5000 budget

Gigabyte H81M-HDS motherboard, LGA 1150 socket.
Intel Core i5
EVGA NVIDIA GeForce GTX 960
Corsair 500W, HyperX
Zalman Z1 mid tower case
Seagate 1TB Hard Drive, 3.5", 7200RPM
Corsair Vengeance 8GB DDR3-1866MHz

Total of 5.$293 adm.hr

If you're planning on putting a Hex unit in there just because you think "it might hold up," plus that case... $50 At Connie, with a $1,500 CPU and a GPU that... $600So, that makes it about $40 cheaper. 🙂

EDIT: This shopping cart is a joke; it’s showing prices that don't even apply to cash payments. 😵 My bad, Connie is acting up... $1750.

Does it really have to be a GTX 960? You could grab an AMD Radeon for less money, and honestly, it actually performs slightly better in games than the GTX 960.

1x Intel Core i5
1x Gigabyte
1x Kingston 8gb 1600Mhz DDR3
1x MSI AMD Radeon 2GB DDR5 256bit
1x Western Digital 500gb SATA 3.0
1x Corsair 500w
1x MS Monster Gaming Case

Total: $1678

EDIT: You could shell out about 25 bucks more$10 and upgrade to a Cooler Master case instead.

I know I’m being a bit much. Just trying to figure out the best possible combo for my needs.

Is there any way to make an i3 and a GTX 960 work together? How well would that setup handle games if I stick to lower settings, like medium or low? I’ve got a 144 Hz monitor, but currently, my rig can't even push past 100 FPS. Plus, money is tight right now. 😵

Hold on, how much cash are we actually talking about here? 🤔

$3,500, or should I just hold off until I’ve scraped together a bit more cash? 🐔

If you're running a 144 Hz monitor, there’s really no point in building a rig for $1167. What resolution is your monitor at?

With those 3.5K specs, you might manage 60+ fps in some lighter titles—provided you don't go overboard with settings like AA or high textures. As for the heavy hitters? Forget about it; the system will be struggling to stay even near 60fps.
