Has anyone ever seen that old classic from the Soviet era? The director is actually Russ, but the whole movie is in Armenian. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can track down a DVD—I've heard it’s considered one of the greatest films ever made, definitely more of an art house vibe...

The director is Sergei Parajanov—he's an Armenian born in Georgia. Such a fascinating guy, and man, his movies are next-level art house stuff.
There's actually a whole thread about him under the movies section. I haven't caught "The Color of Pomegranates" yet, but I've seen some of his other work—some random nice person on a forum sent me those links. Where'd you hear about it?

The Color of Pomegranate is just pure magic. I can't quite remember if I'm mixing it up with some other indie flick from that era, but I think there isn't even any dialogue in this one. Back in the eighties, TV networks were actually bold enough to air stuff like this.

Honestly, I don't think many movies out there can touch those classics from that period. If I could, I’d probably go out and buy every single one of them.
