Hey everyone!
So, I just put together a new build:
-MSI H310M Pro VH
-Asus GTX 1050 Ti 4GB ddr5 Nvidia
-RAM 2x8GB DDR4 2400MHz
-WD Blue 7200rpm 1TB
-Intel i3 8300
I’m running into this weird issue where the whole thing just freezes out of nowhere. Like, the screen stays totally frozen on whatever was there, and nothing responds... not even the keyboard. Caps lock won't toggle or anything. I think maybe it even locked up once while I was sitting in the BIOS, if I remember right.
Any idea what's going on? CPU temps seem fine, and all the fans are spinning quietly like they should. I'm wondering if it could be a RAM issue... some guy sold me two sticks that are supposedly the same brand and specs, but one is black and the other is green, and they look slightly different physically. Plus, I think they were manufactured a year apart. Right now, it usually hangs when I open YouTube and start typing stuff into the search bar, or sometimes just when I launch Chrome. When it freezes, even the reset button does nothing—I have to hold the power button down for like 5 seconds to force it off.
If anyone can help me out, I'd really appreciate it. I spent a decent amount of money on this rig and I'm pretty lost on what's actually wrong.

I would suggest pulling one stick of RAM out and just observing how the system behaves for a few days. Once you've done that, swap it for the other one and see if the issue persists; it’s a simple enough way to rule out a faulty RAM module once and for all.

The second thing to consider is your warranty. If you're still covered, I'd say go ahead and file a claim. In America, people often hesitate to return products because they don't want to be an inconvenience to someone else, but that's a bit misguided. You paid full price for a working device, and it is quite literally their job to provide you with one that functions correctly. These companies have service departments specifically for this purpose, it's all part of the warranty agreement, and frankly, it doesn't cost them a dime to make things right.

So, turns out the RAM was the culprit. I pulled one stick out and just hung out on YouTube, searching stuff and watching videos, and the PC didn't freeze at all. But then I swapped them—took the first one out, put the second one in—and the computer would boot up and then immediately lock up on me. I guess I don't know if my RAM is still under warranty or whatever, but I'll probably just take it back and ask for a replacement. Thanks a ton for the help!

Every single component comes with its own warranty, so they should be able to swap it out for you without any hassle at all. Best of luck.
