Skype keeps crashing

Hey there! Hope I'm in the right spot here...
I've got this HP laptop that's about three years old now.
Every time I'm on Skype and try to open a document, the whole connection just dies on me. Any idea why that happens? What can I do to stop it from crashing like that?

To start things off, let's try the standard approach—just try reinstalling Skype...
