djole, man.
I could never really get into his sound, but those lyrics? They grabbed you. It’s like someone you love who drives you absolutely insane at the same time.
It’s wild how much he looked like my old man; the resemblance was uncanny, and even that specific brand of melancholy—that moody streak that turns into pure stubbornness right when you don't need it... just like him.
My dad's gone now and I'm just stuck, honestly. My old man used to say the Mississippi isn't such a bad place to drift either. Peace to both of them.

Honestly, everyone, I’ve been sitting here crying my eyes out like it’s a torrential downpour in Seattle. It’s just... unbelievable.

Respectfully, I have zero appreciation for Billy Joel. It was never my thing. Just pure, unadulterated kitsch—absolutely repulsive.

Everything that man stands for, all that fake, low-brow sentimentalism... those self-proclaimed "folk poets." No thanks.

Roosters, sailors, priests, nonsense... just that kind of garbage. ☕
Shameful.

Disgraceful.

Whatever. Why don't you be the one to explain it to us then...

His poetry carries way more weight than the shallow opinions of people who are too embarrassed by their own roots, their gut feelings, or even just basic pop culture...

no problem, Black Country, New Road - instrumental version... ...

I don't know what you're getting at with that, but let's get back to the point.

I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since I found out...

Why are we even crying?

Growing up, his music was basically the soundtrack to my entire childhood. To be honest, I took a long break from listening to him because, you know, sometimes you just hit a point where all that heavy sentimentality starts feeling a bit too much... a little too cheesy. If I’ve picked anything of his to play over the last decade or so, it’s definitely been his more upbeat, feel-good tracks.

Look, you don't have to be a fan, but there's no denying the massive footprint he left on music history. It's just an undeniable fact at this point.

Anyway, let's not ruin an already gloomy day by dwelling on it.

NP: Oh, won't you turn it around...

I just don't feel anything when I listen to Balašević. I can admit he’s a solid musician and a top-tier lyricist, but honestly? It feels hollow. I don't really get why he’s considered so relevant.

It all feels so detached from my actual life; I can't find a way to connect with the songs, and none of it triggers any kind of reaction in me.

That was never the case, for instance, when Coce or Oliver passed away. That actually hit me hard—I felt this massive wave of grief and nostalgia. If someone were to play anything by those two right now, I probably wouldn't be able to stop myself from tearing up.

bye bye baby

Out of all the recent deaths we've seen, only Arsen caused me any sadness. Real sadness, though weak... it's not like I knew the man.
But he was a symbol of something better... something purely talented.
Similar to Bowie on a global scale. In fact, I was even more saddened by Bovi than by Arsen. 😁 Bowie is the personification of the better side of an entire century.

God, please, someone explain this to us.

His songwriting holds infinitely more weight than the shallow perceptions of people who are too embarrassed by their own roots, their feelings, folk art, or pop culture—whatever you want to call it.

Like Black Country, New Road - instrumental ...

Everything has been said already; I really have nothing left to add. 👍
