Hi,

So, I'm looking to pick up a business computer. It's mostly going to be used for basic stuff like Microsoft Word and some light web browsing—nothing heavy-duty, definitely no gaming or anything intense like that.

I was wondering if you guys might be able to suggest a price range I should be looking at for those kinds of specs? Just interested in the tower itself, so no need to include a monitor or any other peripherals.

Thanks,

Best,

Or you could just grab a pre-built setup like this "HP desktop 6305 Pro MT, XG088EA" which already comes with Windows 7 Pro 64 bit installed.

I'd probably stretch my budget a bit for a decent power supply and case:
1 x MSI FSP300-60HCN, bulk PSU
1 x MS PHOENIX case without PSU

It costs a little more, but they aren't total junk

That’s fair enough. I was just aiming for the absolute cheapest option.

Or maybe just go all in with a newer Haswell setup—that way you actually get USB 3.0 and SATA 3 support, plus a much better case and power supply:

Intel Celeron G1820
ASUS H81M K
PATRIOT 4GB 1600 MHZ
TOSHIBA 3.5" 500 GB SATA 3
LITE ON DVD-RW SATA
MS Griffin MIDI ATX + FSP 300W

= $560 including assembly.

That's a solid setup!🙂

Really clean build. 🙂

MS Griffin case + MSI FSP300-60HCN PSU, bulk
Intel Celeron G1820 processor
MSI H81M-P33 motherboard
Patriot Sig. DDR3 1600Mhz, 4GB PSD34G160081
LG GH24NS SATA Bulk Black 24x optical drive
Kingmax SSD 120GB SME SATA3, KIN-SME32-120GB

Total: $577 Best Buy (includes free assembly)

It’s a bit on the low side 😬 I guess, if you aren't planning on storing massive movie collections or huge music libraries. But honestly, 120GB should be plenty IMO 🤷

What’s one more R7 250 taking up space? It won't matter if decides to actually install a game 😬
