Yesterday, veterinary inspectors showed up at the Dover shelter and started putting dogs down based on some totally unjustified suspicions about rabies. They even targeted dogs that had already been adopted, which I'm pretty sure is a total violation of the law.

Oprah Winfrey won't let us start a dedicated thread for this specific situation on the subforum. It’s been mentioned briefly in two other existing threads—Alarming! Washington, D.C. needs help! over on the Pets board and Dogs from Dover looking for forever homes on Blue Paw, but those were all created long before this mess happened. Honestly, I feel like it's super urgent that we have a thread on the Pets board specifically titled to address these killings due to suspected rabies. That way, adopters can actually find info on their rights if an inspector shows up at their door threatening their pet, and where people can file actual complaints against the agency for acting this way.

So, I went ahead and opened a thread called: "June 15, 2012. THE DOVER HORROR: Vet inspectors killing shelter dogs and recent rescues!" but the moderator just merged it into Alarmantno! Washington, D.C. needs help!. I tried explaining why it needs its own visibility, but bluerider2 just pointed me over here. I'm just hoping someone might take a look at this case.

To be perfectly blunt: you’re misrepresenting what happened here.

I never actually said that I wouldn't allow a dedicated thread to be created, so please, feel free to set the record straight with a link if you can find where I said that.

Since we're already discussing this exact same issue in two other places—as you pointed out yourself—it seems a bit redundant to clutter things up with yet another topic, doesn't it?

My intention wasn't to direct you here, but rather toward our "local" feedback thread, Suggestions, Critiques, Ideas, and Complaints, where we could have all cleared this up together.

In the few short hours since this started, it was decided that instead of making a specific thread like the one you envisioned, we would open a much broader discussion elsewhere, and everyone was kindly asked to move the conversation there so we wouldn't end up scattering the debate all over the forum.

So, what is the real issue at hand? Is it really about who gets to lead the conversation? Sadly, I think the spotlight has already been stolen by the dogs that were euthanized.

I’m just honestly relieved that this thread finally got opened—that's really all that matters to me right now. Please, let's not let any old grudges against certain organizations get in the way of things here, because that’s just not right. At the end of the day, it's the animals who suffer for our bickering.

Anyway, enough of my rambling. Let's get back to what actually counts: the fact that this topic is finally live, and tomorrow's protest. We really need as many people there as possible. Peace.

Wait, what? Honestly, that was a bit much.

At the end of the day, it's the animals who suffer!

I don't think so. Animals pass away. We are the ones left dealing with the heartache, mostly because we simply lack the power to make the world a better place.

That's all for now, let's get back to what matters—that topic that finally got opened up, and tomorrow's protest where we're hoping for a massive turnout. Peace.

Peace. 🙂

I suspect you might agree that we should probably close this thread, if only to stop it from weighing down the server, which, quite frankly, seems to be on life support at this point—if it even still exists. 🙂
