Outlander (2008)

"Outlander" is this sci-fi action flick produced by one of the guys behind "Lord of the Rings." It’s basically about Vikings having to deal with some alien visitor, haha... kind of like Predator during the Viking era... sounds pretty interesting. My only gripe is that I wish it looked even half as good as Pathfinder... but hey, it doesn't look bad as it is. Also, James "The Jesus" Caviezel just doesn't scream "Viking" to me... especially with the short hair... I'm not feeling it LOL... though then again, he isn't actually a real Viking in this movie. It drops this year, directed by Howard McCain (Renny Harlin was originally attached)... here's the quick rundown, the IMDb link, and two teasers/trailers for the movie...

PS: Just a random fact... Karl Urban was actually considered for the lead before they landed him the main role in that other similar movie, Pathfinder....

Hell Yeahh... this could actually be decent... Vikings vs aliens/monsters... seems cool. From what I've read, even the early reviews have been pretty fair... 👍

JC isn't exactly a Viking in this flick 😂🤣
JC is an Outlander hunting aliens during the Viking era—it’s literally right there in the description. Plus, you can see he's rocking some kind of power armor and high-tech gear 🙏
It's basically 13th Warrior meets The Relic—this is going to be absolutely brilliant, I can't wait 🎉

Like I said in my first post... JC isn't actually a real Viking 😉... don't sweat it... I figured out who's who and why. 👍

It’s a bit ridiculous, but the concept is actually quite original and entertaining enough that I'll give the movie a watch.

Does anyone actually know when this hits theaters, or is it just gonna skip straight to being stuck in some digital video hellhole?

Even with some big names attached, this isn't exactly a blockbuster title... personally, I think it’s headed straight to the bargain bin at a local video rental store.

I mean, there’s a slim chance our local theaters might actually pick this one up, but don't hold your breath—it probably won't stay on the big screen for long. I suppose the main draw is having JC in the cast, and since everyone here still remembers him from Passion, people might show up just for that. We'll see, I guess...

Look, even a movie like "Domino" had huge names (Keira Knightley, Lucy Liu, Christopher Walken, Mena Suvari, Mickey Rourke, etc.) and a famous director (Tony Scott), yet it skipped the US theaters entirely and went straight to DVD.
It was the exact same story with "The Assassination of Jesse James by The Coward Robert Ford"... a critically acclaimed flick starring Brad Pitt, Casey Affleck, Sam Shepard, Mary-Louise Parker, and a whole bunch of others that critics called one of last year's best... and it also showed up straight on DVD.

So, I'm not holding my breath for Outlander hitting the big screen... just like Pathfinder didn't... though, like Bond would say... you never know...

If I recall correctly, Domino was delayed pretty much everywhere, not just here. As for Outlander, I doubt it’ll be late, but there's a good chance it skips theaters and goes straight to digital, just like Pathfinder did. I'm hoping that's not the case, but I guess we just wait and see.

It looks like Jim Caviezel’s new sci-fi epic, >, might be bypassing the big screen altogether and heading straight for your home setup. According to >, we could be looking at a home release as early as this November.

Man, what a joke... I don't get their move. The movie basically pulled mostly good or solid reviews, so why bother?🤷

Honestly, it's nothing new for us... we end up grabbing the better, more famous movies straight on DVD, while over in the States, those same films skip theaters entirely and go straight to home video...🙄🤷
It's pretty pathetic when you consider they're actually putting garbage like Epic Movie in theaters!!😕😕

Here’s a new poster for the movie we were talking about—supposedly the final one—plus some fresh stills. It hits US theaters on January 23rd... though it's just a limited release... still better than nothing, I guess.
