PC build recommendations under $2,200?

Since I've been working on Apple computers for years, I have to admit I'm pretty behind when it comes to the PC world. I'm looking for some help putting together a new build (just the tower, no peripherals). This machine is going to be my workstation for video editing, specifically using Adobe Creative Cloud and DaVinci Resolve (which relies heavily on the GPU), plus a ton of rendering and file conversions. After doing some digging and weighing my options, I've decided to go with an Intel Core i7-5820K. For the graphics card, I'll start with an Nvidia Geforce GTX 970 gaming 4 GB 4 G Crucial, though I’m planning to upgrade to a 980ti or an Nvidia Titan within the next year or two.
I've put together a rough draft of what the build might look like, but I could really use some advice because there are quite a few things I'm clueless about. For instance, which power supply should I pick? What kind of CPU cooler works best? Also, does having RAM with a higher clock speed actually make a difference, or is it negligible? And are there any specific brands I should stay away from right now? Basically, any suggestions are welcome! My budget is around $2,500, and I'd prefer not to go much over that. I pulled this list together using Micro Center since they seem to have a great selection, but I'm not married to buying everything from them. If I pay in cash, I can get a 10% discount on the price shown in the photo, which brings it right to where I wanted to be.

I see you both went with an ASUS board. Do you guys actually think it's a step up from ASRock? I've seen some really solid reviews for the Extreme 4 and 6 models.

Honestly, those X99 boards are either solid or great. I guess the ones for $1000+ might handle overclocking a bit better than the budget options, but that’s about it.

ASUS might be a tiny bit more reliable than ASRock overall, but it’s probably not a huge deal.

I went with an M.2 PCI-e x4 SSD since it’s roughly three times faster than the Samsung 850 Pro 2.5" model, and if you have the budget for it, it's worth it. That’s really the only major difference; my setup has a slightly better power supply, and his board just has USB 3.0 and a different connector.

I’d definitely try to squeeze an M.2 drive in there if the budget allows it. Having that extra speed makes a massive difference when I'm grinding through video files.
I also looked into those boards with built-in USB 3.0, but they end up eating up another slot, which isn't ideal for me—especially since I already have to sacrifice one just for a Wi-Fi card, which most of these boards don't even include by default.

That card is a significant step up from a 970 for the type of work you're doing. If you want, I can explain why having Maxwell gives you such an edge.
