Hey everyone!

I'm looking to put together a new gaming rig from scratch—basically everything, case and all. I need a motherboard and CPU combo that isn't going to be total junk in two years, you know? I want something with enough staying power so I can actually swap parts out later when I need to upgrade.

Budget is sitting right around $1333, maybe give or take $100. Honestly, I've been totally out of the loop with PC hardware lately, so I'm feeling a bit lost here. Any help would be huge 🙂

If you're prioritizing the CPU and motherboard, I’d probably stretch the budget a bit more to grab an Intel Core i7-4770K for $53 extra:

It puts you at roughly $1467, but honestly, that processor is such a steal. With those 8 cores, it'll likely just keep getting better as upcoming games start actually utilizing them, based on what I've seen in some recent benchmarks. Plus, if you run it at stock voltage, you can probably overclock it right up to 4GHz or somewhere close to it.

btw, if I were to pull the trigger on a pre-built through Future, would they ship it out in pieces, or can I just cut a deal with them to have the whole thing assembled in the case before it hits my doorstep?

Assembly and delivery? That's on the house.
