Hey, I'm looking to put together a PC specifically for gaming, mainly to run Diablo 3. I was wondering how much it would cost to build a rig similar to the one in this link that can handle Diablo 3 now, while leaving room to upgrade components one by one as my budget allows later on? Thanks.

Are you just looking for the tower itself, or do you need the rest of the peripherals too? Also, could you be a little more specific—maybe give me a ballpark figure for what you're looking to spend on a new setup? And are you planning to pay with cash or a card?

Just like Larry Ortiz5 said, you need to give us some basic details first.
a) Are you just looking for the tower, or do you need peripherals too?
b) How are you paying—cash or financing?
c) Do you want us to build the rig for you, or are you doing it yourself? Also, do you need delivery, or are you picking it up?

My apologies, here’s some more info... I just need the tower itself; I was planning on financing the rest through my credit card... The price would be $1333...
Could you give me a quote for a build capable of running Diablo 3 as a priority, followed by titles like Battlefield and Call of Duty?

Someone else will probably put this together better... here’s a suggestion for $1345 without the case or the drive—you'll have to figure out the rest 🙂, everything is brand new $67 so you're good to go... all the web prices are in the links

Or try this one if the first isn't right for the FM2 socket

Based on this, the processor doesn't look too bad

@Bryan Taylor6

That power supply seems pretty weak... and I don't think you can actually finance this; if you did, it would be 5% higher, which puts it at about $1417.

@Bryan Taylor6

That power supply is subpar... plus the price isn't actually on credit, it's 5% higher which makes it roughly $1417.

Is this guy seriously asking for upgradeability????

Alexander Moore67 said:Wait, he's actually looking for upgrade potential????

If he grabs my setup, there won't be anything left to upgrade... everything would run perfectly just like it should. You get a beefy GPU, a quad-core CPU that can handle some overclocking, plenty of RAM, and a power supply that’s a bit questionable—if I remember right, it puts out about 600W on the 12V rail, but whatever, he can always swap it out for $150. The price for this $1417 is a little steep, but for that amount, it honestly seems like the best deal out there.......the graphics card absolutely crushes it, an XFX AMD Radeon R9 380 with 2GB DDR5; with that, any game should just fly

You must have been staring into a crystal ball, because there's no way an Athlon is going to be running everything on an R9 680 four years from now, whether it's under a new AMD name or something from Nvidia.

In four years, there won't be anything left to upgrade because that H81 board will be dead, just like the FM2 platform. Let's be real, the GPU will be too...

On an H81 motherboard, you could swap in an i5, but for that you need $500 ....With that kind of money, you could get both a processor and a motherboard from AMD... say, right now a CPU and board are $650 and $120 which means $333 that you could have $167 gone for an FX 8300 and a motherboard instead... For what Intel charges just for the processor, AMD gives you the CPU and the board... that's all there is to the upgrade talk... Or maybe in six months they'll swap the i3 for an i5... but from an economic standpoint, that's just throwing money away...

It’s honestly smarter for him to grab an R9 380 and a G3250 right now. That way, he can just upgrade to a better GPU and processor down the road when things get more expensive. He won't have any trouble running games like Diablo 3, but once he tries to jump into GTA 5 or Witcher 3, that Athlon is going to be a major bottleneck...

For playing Diablo 3, you don't even need a high-end GPU; if he wants, he could prioritize a stronger CPU instead, then just pick up a better graphics card later as an upgrade if he decides to tackle other titles down the road. That said, if his sole focus is strictly D3, I don't see any real necessity for an upgrade—the setup mentioned above would handle it just fine.

What kind of bottleneck are you even talking about?

Here is Skyrim running at roughly 30 FPS in HD, everything set to high... and CPU usage is only around 50%... the card is a GTX 960

And here is GTA V

So what exactly is the problem?
