Hey
Let me lay this out for you. I was dealing with texture glitches and other weirdness on my old Zotac GTX 560 Ti AMP, and then eventually, the whole thing just hit me with a black screen. I kept the case and components clean, but I couldn't actually get inside the card to fix it because one of the heatsink screws stripped out. Since I couldn't repaste it, I just stuck to blowing out the dust, but I guess that wasn't enough because it finally gave up on me. So, I swapped it out for a Gigabyte GTX 750, but guess what? I'm still getting the exact same black screen issue. Any suggestions on what to try next? And please, don't start lecturing me about the power supply—the GTX 560 pulls way more juice than this new GTX 750 ever will.

It’s probably just a software issue—drivers acting up, most likely. Why don't you try uninstalling everything first, then run a tool like Driver Sweeper to really clean out the old junk? After you restart, grab the latest drivers directly from NVIDIA's site and see if that stabilizes things...

Another thing—you could always pop that GTX 750 into a different PC, just to rule out any hardware issues. By the way, when exactly are you getting that black screen? Is it just totally random, or does it happen specifically while you're gaming?

Every time I try to boot this thing up, it just hangs. It won't even get me to the BIOS screen or anything like that.

Maybe you could borrow a GPU from a friend or a neighbor just to test things out—you know, just to see if the system actually boots up and sends a signal to the monitor? It might also be worth trying to clear the CMOS by pulling the battery off the motherboard and popping it back in. I’d also suggest reseating the RAM—just take it out and click it back in firmly. Honestly, if you try swapping in that other graphics card and still get nothing, I’m starting to suspect the motherboard might have finally kicked the bucket... Is your current card definitely seated all the way into the PCIe slot? Also, when you hit the power button, do you see any signs of life from the keyboard, like the lights coming on?

Hey
I managed to pull it off. Thanks for the help when I was second-guessing my RAM; I tried testing it a few days before grabbing the GPU and it turns out the RAM wasn't the issue after all. Now one stick just popped up and likely fried, or maybe the slot itself went, though I’m leaning toward the RAM since it sits so close to the CPU—high chance it just gave up the ghost.
So here’s the next thing: can a PC seriously slow down this much just because it’s running on 6GB of RAM instead of 8GB? Before I go rushing out to buy more memory, I need to know if there's any way to fix this via software. Honestly, without even joking, my phone is faster at browsing the web than this machine is.

Maybe just drop your PC off at a local repair shop somewhere 😁

If I were in your shoes, honestly, the best move would be to just wipe the hard drive and do a clean install of macOS. It lets you start from scratch—which is usually the best way to rule out any software glitches making your internet feel sluggish. Once you've got macOS back up and running, just make sure to grab all those necessary drivers. If the computer still acts up after that, then you know for sure you're looking at a hardware issue...
