Pineapple Express!

So, I sat down yesterday to watch this comedy starring the phenomenal Seth Rogen and James Franco, and I have to admit, I was absolutely dying laughing. It’s a hilarious film, though I suppose I shouldn't have been surprised given it features Seth Rogen. I must say, I don't think anyone plays a stoner quite as convincingly as James Franco🤣—I actually caught him in a somewhat similar role in "City by the Sea" alongside Robert De Niro, though that was much more serious, I guess.

Dale Denton, a rather lazy court clerk and stoner, has only one reason to visit his equally lazy dealer Saul Silver: to pick up some weed, specifically a rare new strain known as Pineapple Express. However, things get complicated when Dale happens to be the sole witness to a murder committed by a corrupt cop and the city's deadliest drug lord. In a moment of pure panic, he drops his leftover roach of Pineapple Express at the scene. Now, Dale has a whole new reason to see Saul: he needs to figure out if that specific strain is rare enough to lead the killers right back to him—and, unfortunately, it is. As Danny and Saul run for their lives, they realize pretty quickly that their weed-induced paranoia isn't actually paranoia; the bad guys are genuinely hunting them down and looking for the quickest way to finish them off.

I'm just waiting for this to hit theaters, since there isn't much of a streaming option out there yet, but as a huge fan of anything involving the Apatow crew—especially when Seth Rogen is leading the charge—I really feel like I need to see this on the big screen... 🙂

I caught the midnight premiere at AMC Theatres yesterday, and I have to say, the movie is brutally funny.😂😂 It’s easily one of the best comedies I’ve ever seen.👍

It’s got some solid laughs, but man, those last 40 minutes are a total train wreck.
Better than your typical mindless comedy, but definitely not high-brow stuff.

Yeah, true, but here's the thing: the "Apatow crew" is starting to feel less like it's just about Apatow and more like just a random group of people.

I don't really do comedies. Especially not those modern American ones—you know the type, all those endless parodies like Scary Movie and whatever else they throw at us lately. I can handle something like Inspector Clouseau or that kind of classic slapstick. Honestly, if we're talking about actual American comedy, the last time I actually cracked a smile more than once was watching Elf with Will Ferrell.
Should I bother with this one? I noticed it’s sitting pretty high on IMDb.

I’m hoping it actually delivers on the laughs so I can kill some time; hopefully, it won't be a total letdown. 🙂

To each their own. Personally, I thought it was hilarious (especially the dark humor), and judging by the IMDb ratings, most people seem to feel the same way.👍.

I don't think this movie is anything short of a disappointment. Go ahead and enjoy yourself, though; you’re definitely going to get some laughs out of it.

I really wanted—as much as it might sound silly to admit—for this movie to actually land some jokes, but man... it was just boring as hell. Like, seriously, about as exciting as catching a stomach flu. It felt totally pointless. I kept sitting there asking myself, "Wait, what? Why am I watching this? What’s even the point?" If a movie has a plot, you know, it should probably actually *go* somewhere, but whatever, putting that aside, it’s painfully obvious the whole goal here was to lean hard on the comedy and sketches. Sure, a few decent bits sneak through (actually funny!), but overall, it's been ages since I've sat through something with such mindless "humor." The dialogue feels like something any random idiot could have scribbled down on a napkin. I don't know, I'm not even that bummed about the ticket price, but my time? That's what hurts. This thing is just a total waste of time.

It’s honestly great to see comments like this. Honestly, whenever anyone brings up IMDb, I’m just genuinely baffled by how high those ratings are for this particular flick.

It’s an okay movie, I guess... maybe just a bit too heavy on the gay subtext for my taste.

The film is actually decent... I’ll admit, right out of the gate, I thought I’d made a massive mistake and had set the bar way too high for myself... but seriously, just give it a chance.

Just watched it. Honestly? A disappointing 3/10. The movie was tedious, with maybe two or three decent scenes sprinkled in before everything else went downhill.

The movie is anything but trash... the script is actually quite clever, even if it leans into certain clichés on purpose... though if your idea of peak comedy is something like Zohan, then I suppose there’s really no saving you...

Come on, actually explain why you think "PE" isone (well, if we're talking about the movie it's "one," if it's the comedy then it's "one")of the greatest comedies ever made..

There is simply no such thing as a universal answer to whether a movie is actually good or not—that should be obvious to anyone with half a brain. Personally, I think it’s fantastic, and I can certainly lay out the arguments to prove it, just as you lot can go on about why it’s garbage. I’m sure there are plenty of you here who thought 'The English Patient' was a masterpiece, and honestly, every time I hear someone praise that film, a little piece of my soul dies.

Everyone’s been hyping him up, but honestly—the movie is just mediocre at best.
The Apatow hype has definitely deflated; if Seth Rogen and his little stout clone from Superbad weren't working with Apatow, they'd probably be flipping burgers at McDonald's...

Honestly, Pineapple Express is barely tolerable at best. There are maybe two decent jokes in the entire movie, but everything else was just painful to sit through. Seth Rogen overacts so much that he becomes incredibly grating after about thirty minutes. I could barely make it to the credits.
