Hey,
So, my brother's PC just died on him one day—completely cut out. I checked back in about 30 minutes later to try and boot it up, but the second I hit the power button, there was this little flash behind the tower and a faint "thud"... plus that distinct smell of something being fried. No actual smoke or flames, though. 😁
I went ahead and pulled the power supply out since that’s my main suspect. It's open now, but honestly, I don't see anything obviously burnt... which doesn't help much. I'm pretty much a total novice when it comes to PC hardware—are there any specific telltale signs I should be looking for to figure out if it was just the PSU that bit the dust or if something else is toast?
