So, I was reading somewhere that the director actually pulled inspiration from everything going down back then: Bill Clinton, Monica Lewinsky, and the whole mess with the bombing of America.

No conspiracy here. It was filmed way before any of that happened.

I believe the movie hit theaters about three weeks before the attack. I’d go as far as saying someone actually took inspiration from the film...

The movie was filmed two years before the attacks hit... and man, is it good. Of course, everything that went down in real life afterward just adds this surreal layer of intensity to the whole experience.
It’s honestly bizarre when you think about how NBC aired this film several times right at the start of the bombing raids... probably trying to use it as some kind of twisted "proof" of things to come, I guess? 🙄 But let me tell you, watching this thing while explosions are actually thundering around you is one hell of a trip.🤔

The movie was filmed shortly after Clinton went after Iraq.
By the way, critics of US policy actually called that whole offensive the Lewinsky scandal!
Just that fact alone tells you everything you need to know about what was really going on!
See, back then, the Monica Lewinsky scandal was blowing up. Headlines were all over the fact that the President was having sex in the Oval Office during work hours! An intern at the White House was basically performing oral sex on Clinton on the clock!
Clinton lied to the nation, but the evidence—his DNA on her dress—told a completely different story.
But then, suddenly, US aircraft start hitting Iraqi facilities!
War!
Overnight!
War headlines totally overshadowed the messy stuff happening inside the White House!
US sources claimed Saddam Hussein was building nuclear weapons in his factories, making an American intervention absolutely necessary.
America was defending itself once again. Against sneaky terrorists!
Another nuclear catastrophe was averted.
Clinton saved America!
Clinton defended peace!
America wins again (thanks, Clinton).
Yet another victory of Good over Evil, led by Clinton!
Those sentences above look pretty much like the newspaper headlines that replaced the stories about what Clinton was doing at work and all his lies.
Not long after that, Clinton was reelected!
