Hmm... well, I watched Savior and I actually quite enjoyed it! 🙂 Now... word on the street is that Savior is incomparably worse... but then again, you can never have enough horror, especially when it's coming straight out of a home workshop, so... yeah, I'll probably head to the cinema long after the fine dead girl finishes its run at the local diner! 🙂

The movie didn't win any awards even in San Francisco, and everyone there usually walks away with something, I guess.😁

Saw this in the New York Post and it felt like some cheap Halloween mask. 🙄

Apparently, people were still overhyping him two years after those terrible reviews in San Francisco

but honestly, the best compliments I heard came from the "select" group at the premiere:

"Brilliant... Tense and terrifying... Better than the original..." 🤣

Democracy is such a fragile political system, and we should never underestimate the threat of a dictatorship. Mass media—especially television—possesses an incredible power to manipulate, and people can be shaped like dough by any leader capable of molding them. These are painful truths from the 20th century that aren't wasted if they're revisited to understand our history. In that sense, I actually welcome the political message behind "Infection," a two-year-old film by Krsto Papić that has finally hit American cinemas. This legend of American filmmaking has essentially created a modern version of his "Savior" (1976)—which was the first true horror in this region that dealt with terror rather than just running from it. He likely revisited these themes because they remain relevant and because he now has access to special effects that were unimaginable three decades ago. These visual "innovations," provided by a foreign co-producer, aren't anything groundbreaking, yet they are easily the best parts of this failed project. It feels rushed, reminiscent of some of the weaker episodes of "Smogovac." From the start, the movie is needlessly loaded with dramatic music to force a tense, mysterious atmosphere. It’s full of redundant scenes, most notably the amateurish death of Müller in the flute player's apartment, followed by action sequences that seem to take Bob Lee movies as their only inspiration. Even the stellar cast fails to deliver; even Ivo Gregurević seems wooden here. He’s usually a brilliant actor who delivers ingenious roles, but here he looks like he stepped out of a pre-war production of "Banquet in Blitva." The only standout is Medvešek, who did a great job, while the rest of the cast seemed largely disengaged. "Infection" is a disappointment that no one would expect from a creator of such important American films.

All in all, you're better off watching something else!

Poor Papić. He’s so insecure about his own work that he’s already trying to pre-emptively excuse the bad reviews. Pathetic.

I’m sitting here watching this movie by Papić, and honestly, I am totally vibing with the pure trash potential of this thing. 👍

No nonsense, the acting is rough and the special effects are even worse, but man, this could seriously become a cult classic. 😁

I’m just not feeling this movie! I really expected so much more out of it...
The core concept? Yeah, it’s actually pretty solid, but the directing and the acting... they just missed the mark for me.
It relies way too heavily on those tired old Hollywood tropes, and honestly, the performances were pretty rough. While the plot isn't your run-of-the-mill American drama, it feels like they took a fresh idea and somehow managed to present it in such an outdated, lackluster way.

Honestly, if they couldn't figure out how to actually make the rats look decent, they should've just gone with a recipe straight out of Ratatouille...
The whole vibe was just off, too. They totally missed that gritty, suffocating atmosphere the main character was supposed to be feeling.

That one scene with the fish and the camera? Oh my god, thinking about it now just kills me. Who on earth comes up with stuff like that? 🤣

But seriously, the wooden acting actually shocked me. I can't tell if the script is just that ridiculous or if there's some other issue... the actors look like they were forced to stand there and recite lines against their will. It’s a total disaster.
The concept itself feels like an attempt at "something new," which is interesting, but the execution is so poorly done that I don't even know where to begin with my critique.

Ugh... I honestly couldn't get a wink of sleep last night because of that rat—or whatever on earth that creature was supposed to be—and, well, I suppose I also couldn't sleep because of Ivo Gregurević's acting... long live American trash cinema!!!

Honestly, even the rat is terrible. It’s absolute trash, truly. Maybe I should take a look at those Saviors to see if they can actually improve my impression a bit 🤷

Good grief, what a massive letdown. I was really hoping for something fresh, an American film that actually moves away from war stories and such... instead, we get this absolute disaster of a performance. Truly embarrassing.👎
