How can I reach out to someone who hasn't posted on the forum in a few months? He used to be active here for years. Is there any chance the moderators could send an email to his inbox, since I don't actually know him personally?

Maybe try sending them a private message first? If they happen to pop back online within the next couple of months, they'll see it. I guess, other than that, you might just have to wait and see.
