http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_(2007_film)

PLOT SUMMARY:
A journey through the dark reaches of the American wilderness... Pete McKell, a cynical traveler, heads out on an intense river expedition through the vast Kakadu National Park. The group is led by the high-energy Kate, who can't stand tourists looking for cheap thrills. But once they cross paths with a terrifyingly aggressive crocodile—one hungry enough to hunt humans—this adventure turns into anything but harmless fun.

Great movie!🙏👍
I honestly expected the plot to be stupid, you know, something low-rent like Jaws 2 or 3...
The soundtrack is killer; that Native American music sounds genuinely scary.
The story holds up. It's believable. I have zero complaints.
That first attack? Total shocker. I nearly jumped right out of my seat and spilled my popcorn. I was fully sucked in. 😁
The teenagers and kids stay far away from this one, which is exactly why it’s great—you actually get a decent theater experience without all the annoying screaming and noise.
Plus, there are some sexy guys in it. There's the American guy and that handsome Australian guy on the boat. 😳

After watching Open Water, the ocean creeps me out. This movie makes me never want to go on a river cruise again... I am definitely staying away from those waters, even if the scenery looks beautiful. 😳
😳

Bottom line: it's in theaters now. If you dig thrillers and you aren't into teen comedies, cartoons, or local trash—and if you've already seen Dossier X but don't feel like sitting through Hancock or some six-hour Batman epic—then watch this. If you like this genre, you won't regret it.

I’m honestly considering watching this just because of the title ("River Horror"—I don't think the translators realized how hysterical and off-putting that sounds) ... and besides, who actually fears a crocodile these days? I was reading the news the other day about a crocodile ripping a boy's arm off, yet in this movie, the thing supposedly stabs him in the eye with a finger from his other hand to scare him, causing him to run away... LOL? ...

The movie kicks off with news clippings tacked all over the walls of some dive bar in an Australian town. One article even shows a kid's torso caught in the jaws of a killed crocodile!

Honestly, I’m terrified of crocodiles after watching this. It’s worth checking out if you're into intense atmosphere or just love a good thriller/horror flick.

It’s a summer flick that doesn't even try to be anything more—which is honestly why it works. The casting is top-tier, though; those scenes where everyone starts panicking and that survival instinct kicks in are handled brilliantly, even if you end up hating some of the characters... 😁The CGI croc in the water looks legit, but once it's out of the water, you can really see the low budget. Such a shame 😢

Solid flick. Honestly, easily the best movie about a giant crocodile cannibal I’ve sat through lately—maybe ever. It’s probably the finest nature horror released in recent memory, if not longer..
The theater was basically empty—I suspect they used some cheap, tacky title and poster just to make it look like low-budget trash—but in terms of actual quality, this thing is likely at the top of whatever's playing right now. Plus, it's only about ninety minutes long! All in all, it delivers exactly what it promises.

Yeah, I thought it was absolute trash too..
😳
It’s such a shame the local geniuses butchered the translation so badly.

And just how many of them have you actually sat through? 🤣

How many movies about a giant crocodile cannibal even exist in the first place? 🤷

So, I stumbled onto this clip on YouTube for a crocodile movie filmed just last year,
it’s actually pretty similar to this one—it's called Black Water..
Looks pretty gripping, and apparently, it's based on actual events too!
😳

I also recall that the series "Return to Eden" was somehow based on a crocodile attack, too.

Giant crocodile cannibals? I am simply shocked. 😳

I don't have much time, but I'll give it a shot. If everyone insists it isn't half bad, who am I to disagree?😬

I mean, while you're stuck in New York City, just head over to the AMC

But I'm out here in San Diego, where we only have the summer cinema circuit. I won't be heading to NYC anytime soon. At least we were the first ones to catch the mummy... 😁

This isn't coming to our summer cinema. And honestly, I missed Jaws too...

Look, I’m a massive horror junkie—like, seriously, give me anything creepy and I'm in—but man, this movie? It was a total letdown. Just a complete bummer. 🙄
I mean, I really wanted to love this one, I truly did—but man, the special effects and the acting? Just... yikes. It felt like I was watching some low-budget flick from twenty years ago rather than something modern. 🙄 So naive, totally predictable... 👎

Lake Placid?

Anyway, I just remembered a total gem that’s worth hunting down. I remember holding the box in my hands back when I was just a kid at a video rental shop—it was about this massive alligator that fed on mutated dogs and grew to an insane size because of it. 😁

The premise is simple: A researcher heads out to the Australian Outback—well, let’s just say a remote stretch of the US wilderness—to investigate rumors of a massive, man-eating crocodile lurking in the local waterways. It’s basically the setup for a classic creature feature. There’s a lot of tension built around this giant crocodile cannibal that supposedly terrorizes the area. If you're looking for something in the vein of Lake Placid, this hits those specific notes. It's straightforward, perhaps a bit predictable, but it serves its purpose for fans of the genre.

By the way—it’s just weird that it’s a crocodile. Cannibal? What do you people think crocodiles eat—yogurt?

That damn thing will devour anything with meat on its bones—human thighs included. 😁

However, I have just recalled a certain gem that would be well worth tracking down. I remember holding the box in my hands as a kid in a video rental store—it was about a massive alligator that ate mutated dogs, which caused it to grow to an enormous 😁

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0080354/synopsis

By the way, isn't it strange to suggest a crocodile is cannibalistic? Do people actually think crocodiles subsist on yogurt?

An animal will consume anything with meat on it, including human legs, 😁

Well, in my humble opinion, the distinction between a cannibalistic crocodile and an "ordinary" one is that a man-eater intentionally hunts humans—meaning they primarily feed on people—whereas a "normal" crocodile only eats humans if the opportunity presents itself. From what I gathered, the one in Rogue leaps out of the water specifically to hunt people... right?

Movies featuring giant crocodile cannibals are not exactly my forte. I had no idea there were quite so many of them. 🤷

By the way, I now have an unwanted mental image of a crocodile attempting to eat yogurt... that is going to haunt me all day.

"Lake Placid" is basically just a movie about a giant crocodile cannibal hanging out in a mountain lake somewhere in the US.😕 It’s half comedy, half creature feature—the crocodile is alright, I guess.

Then there's "Primeval kill," which was inspired by that actual crocodile in Africa that supposedly ate 300 people. Honestly, "Primeval" is split down the middle—half crocodile movie, half thriller about war crimes. (Though, let's be clear, the croc didn't commit them—that was the Hutui against the Tutsi, or something like that.) The crocodile is mostly just a special effect, and it doesn't move quite like a real reptile; there's this one scene where it's practically galloping through the savanna chasing someone. Still, it's a decent, entertaining little flick.

With "Rogue," they lean more into tension than pure carnage. The characters actually act like normal people instead of walking clichés, and when the crocodile does show up, it actually looks legit. The approach is similar to "Jaws"—you don't really see the beast until the very end.

How many movies about giant crocodile cannibals even exist? :don't know

Besides these three, you've got the 80s "Alligator," "Black Water," "Lake Placid 2," and I'm sure there are plenty more out there.

It’s funny how in American movies, once an animal eats a person, it suddenly gets this prestigious "man-eater" title. Like, a regular bear is just... a bear. But if it snacks on someone in the opening scene, the actors start looking all terrified and whispering, "Beware... there's a man-eater around."

Hmm... either that—or they’re just clueless until some grizzled veteran beast hunter shows up to explain it's a merciless killing machine. Or, third option: some zoologist with an Ivy League accent comes along to study this specific species and explains the exact same thing.

So, does a man-eating croc basically hit its rebellious teenage phase, pack its bags, and move in near the suburbs because it’s decided that snacking on humans is its new personality trait?😁
