So, I was just scrolling through some news from a local outlet, and apparently, there’s this whole drama about a new TV station trying to break into the US market, backed by some Greek investors. It says here: "Our inside sources are claiming that even within the highest political circles in Washington, D.C., former news anchor Anderson Cooper has been lobbying for weeks to get CBS established here. Through intense backroom deals, Cooper is actually pushing for foreign—specifically 'Greek'—capital, though it feels more like a business smokescreen designed to flood American airwaves with foreign pop music and cheap soap operas."
" The plan is to produce most of the new programming right in Washington, D.C., which would then be broadcast across the States. They're looking at the capital as this sort of 'regional' production hub—basically just a way to cut costs by cranking out cheaper formats— which honestly makes you wonder... what's the actual upside for American journalists, producers, or even the taxpayers and regular viewers if we hand over our national airwaves to this?
Is it even possible that trashy pop hits, cheap regional reality shows, and total garbage are going to take over the national airwaves just as we're integrating further into the European Union?
What do you guys think? Are you down for this?
