MTV is an incredibly serious production powerhouse. You only need to watch ten seconds of any show they air to see that.
I honestly think Scream would work perfectly as a series if they just put all the pieces together correctly. In fact, given all those twists and the killers introduced in the third and fourth installments, it really should have been a TV show from the very start.
The first two movies were decent enough, but after that, the whole thing just became exhausting.
