War is actually a perfect setup for serial killers—you get to kill, but you don't have to answer to anyone! Personally, I think that definition is a bit too broad. You’ve got people who snap and kill their neighbor, but nothing else... those aren't serial killers. They just had a neighbor who was driving them absolutely insane!😂

Impulsive killings are totally different. Real serial killers? That comes from deep within the psyche. There isn't a financial motive involved, and they definitely don't act on a whim. No, they plan everything out meticulously to satisfy this internal urge to destroy or torture victims. It’s all about that feeling of power; their mental state is just broken in that specific way.

Given the risk of being killed by an enemy, that isn't really true. Unprotected civilians are much easier targets for serial killers than soldiers with rifles.

For those who appreciate truly high-quality reading material, here is a real gem. In my opinion, it’s easily the most precise resource out there... So fire up Google Translate and let's dive in 😎

wearyowl29 said:I was just scrolling through the news this morning and read about this absolute monster—some guy who slaughtered around 60 sex workers, and some people are even saying he might have ground them up into sausages. It’s gruesome stuff. It really got me thinking about why, by almost universal rule, serial killers are men and their victims are women, most often those working in the nightlife industry.

Where does all that deep-seated, pathological hatred toward women come from? Why do they feel driven to go on these relentless killing sprees...?

And honestly, why don't we see more female serial killers out there? Why does it always seem like they're the ones being targeted instead of the ones doing the targeting...?

How do you all make sense of this???😕

Well, men tend to be more aggressive in general, and they often struggle more with controlling those impulses. Not only are there more male killers, but their methods are also quite distinct compared to what you see with women. Women are often more inclined to use things like poison, whereas men seem to "prefer" axes, guns, knives, or even just their own hands (though there are plenty of other ways, obviously 😳).
Sex workers can be easy targets, but I also suspect that certain men harbor an intense amount of resentment toward them for various reasons, which leads them to act out in such horrific ways (I remember watching an interview with someone in that field a long time ago). But, do you honestly think there aren't any female serial killers out there? There are, certainly—it’s a relatively small percentage, but they definitely exist.

I’d argue it all comes down to brain chemistry. Men and women are wired differently, but if we're looking at efficiency—say, a female serial killer compared to a male one—the woman often comes out on top. It’s just that those types of women are socialized to master that kind of work from a very young age.

And what exactly? Clinical pharmacology combined with toxicology? 🤣

I read today that it might actually be effective to treat psychopaths, sociopaths, and serial killers with synthetic oxytocin, much like how diabetics manage their condition with insulin.

I lent the book to a buddy, so I can't give you the title right now. Damn. But basically, this guy was targeting sex workers because they were easy targets, until he killed a child—or maybe a girl—and then the FBI finally caught up with him here in the States...
Anyway, my point is that if someone in America wanted to be a serial killer without any specific motive beyond physical traits, picking a sex worker is probably the most obvious route to take...
I need to track down the book first, then I'll drop the names and what I actually thought about it. You guys should share yours too, because honestly, this generic story is starting to get on my nerves.
You just can't generalize when it comes to why killers do what they do.

I honestly wonder if people even have a conscience—like, are they actually aware of what they're doing in the moment? 😕

Conscience is such a subjective thing. What you consider to be a basic moral standard might actually be someone else's absolute limit.

Nothing new here. I’ve believed this since the beginning of time—they’ve always been around, they just lived under the radar during the era of heavy-handed government censorship.
Typical psychopaths. They thrive on the sheer cruelty of it all, tormenting anyone weaker than them, whether it's people or animals.
Some are driven by pure impulse, as Hannibal says, and we tend to crave exactly what we see played out every single day.
I find that mass suicide cult in Botswana fascinating—if I recall correctly—led by that cult leader James. It’s wild how much power he had to manipulate and play god with people's lives.

Maybe they’re playing Dexter, thinking they’ll go out and take out someone who doesn't bring anything useful to the table... I mean, most of them don't have the guts to go after actual heavy hitters, so they just pick easy targets—people society already looks down on, like the homeless or whatever... people nobody is really going to miss, though obviously, some people will... but you know how it goes, they're just seen as bottom-of-the-barrel trash... so it’s an easy way out.
And serial killers probably just have this overwhelming urge to kill, so they settle for whoever is the easiest mark.

As for women, I honestly think they mostly kill for money or because of some intense emotional trigger... I don't know...

Oh, and I'm pretty sure there's just a surplus of male criminals out there, mostly because guys have such a hard time actually expressing how they feel or communicating with anyone else... they just bottle everything up and suffer in silence until they eventually hit a breaking point and just snap... sure, there are women like that, and there are plenty of guys who are just sensitive and cry all the time, but that’s definitely the exception rather than the rule...
Women spend their whole lives talking through what's bothering them, leaning on each other, venting, crying whenever they need to—even if it's right in the middle of a sidewalk, and that's totally fine.
But men? They're taught from day one that they aren't allowed to cry, simply because they're men.
It’s like how little kids act—both boys and girls cry the exact same way when they fall down or when someone's mean to them... except then boys get constantly nagged to toughen up, and other kids make fun of them for it—I mean, yeah, girls get teased too if they're too emotional, but boys get it way worse... and so, one day, they just lose it and do something messed up.

I’d also add that the victim profiles are worlds apart—male serial killers almost always target women and children, while women rarely kill children or other women, at least from what I can tell (maybe I should dive into some actual research); they mostly kill men—so, men tend to prey on the vulnerable, while women seem to do the opposite, which says a lot. And the motives are probably different too—compared to men, anyway.

I can't say for certain, but I don't entirely agree with that. It's true that men mostly kill women. However, when it comes to female killers... 🤔 I’d venture to say I've come across more cases where their victims were either other women or children. There are so many instances where mothers have killed their own children. 😢 Then again, logic dictates that it's generally harder for a woman to overpower a man, isn't it? That's why I mentioned how the methods of killing differ so much. A woman might poison her husband, whereas he's more likely to use a knife.🤷

Yeah, I see where you're coming from—but personally, I wouldn't label women who kill their own newborns as serial killers; I just don't think they fit that specific mold. They aren't out there hunting for pleasure—it’s more about trying to solve a desperate, impossible situation through a horrific lens—they simply didn't want those children. Obviously, there are massive mental health struggles involved since they could have chosen adoption or even giving them up to a shelter, but that isn't the mindset of a serial killer—those people go looking for strangers to target.

Look, there’s actually a term for it—infanticide—and then you’ve got postpartum depression, plus probably a whole list of other clinical labels. It doesn't necessarily mean a woman doesn't want her baby; it's more like she just completely snaps because of the depression or whatever else is going on, and then the unthinkable happens.

I get that. But when it happens repeatedly, I’m not sure we can just brush it off. There was a case over in Germany—a woman had nine children and left all nine of them to starve; she didn't physically suffocate them, she just let nature take its course. And why did she have those kids in the first place? Because apparently, using a condom is such a sin! Well, if abortion is a sin, then letting them die isn't? It's a strange logic.🤷 Regardless, this doesn't fit the profile of a serial killer.

Man, that woman is just sick.

Also, it feels kind of stupid how sex workers are portrayed here as people nobody would ever actually look for!
I mean, they have friends, kids, parents... they're real people.
