It’s not exactly a life-altering issue, but it is worth noting
As far as I can tell, I didn't delete my own Signature
So why was it removed?

It was wiped back in 2016, and you're just noticing now? 😁
A signature is supposed to be three lines at most using a tiny font; yours was five or six lines of microscopic text—basically a damn novella, if you ask me.
I'm not saying I have anything against them, I'm just stating the facts. 😉

Who says it was deleted in 2016?

I’ve had my signature vanish on me before, too—had to go through the whole hassle of restoring it... and from what I can see, nobody ever really bothers giving an explanation for why that happens...

Apparently, there’s some data logged against Adam Alvarez81. I thought this was his thread, for heaven's sake.
I won't stick my nose in your business, so let whoever deleted him explain themselves.

So, okay, if those are the new forum rules, then they should apply to everyone, so I expect the admins to go ahead and wipe—all signatures.

Because I haven't had mine deleted, so whoever is doing the deleting might as well clear them all out systematically.
Or just restore mine until we actually get an order to remove them.

So, what was the actual reason my signature was removed?
Because according to you, it has nothing to do with editing being disabled, and it has nothing to do with the intention to phase them out entirely. I didn't delete my signature myself. If you're operating under the false impression that it was wiped in 2016, then someone out there surely knows who actually deleted it and why.

What's the issue with keeping me informed?
A simple private message would have sufficed, and we wouldn't be having this whole back-and-forth right now.

Since we don't actually have access to a signature history log here, our usual routine is to just note down when a user's signature gets pulled so we can keep track of who designed what. Looking at your profile right now, there isn't anything listed, so I'm completely in the dark about who removed it or what the reasoning was. However, if you could just describe exactly what that signature looked like, I'll do my absolute best to dig into it and figure out why it was taken down for you.

If someone gets hit with a ban, I’m pretty sure their signature gets wiped out automatically as well.

I can't say for certain, but that might be one way to look at how the system handles it.

and my strike count is pretty minimal anyway.

The signature hasn't been changed in years, and it isn't something that would now cause an issue.

Look, if you didn't get slapped with a ban, then that's not what caused this.
Having some points on your record without an actual change in account status wouldn't have messed with your signature.
