Every winter, my skin goes into total meltdown😕Some areas are incredibly dry, others have developed keratosis pilaris🤮, and I’ve got this rough, red patch on my inner thighs that itches like crazy and seems to be spreading. Since this happens every single year, and my dermatologist just keeps cycling through different creams and shower oils depending on which pharmacy brand they’re partnering with that season😠, I want to see a top-tier specialist who will actually run tests to find the root cause. Does anyone know a great doctor in Washington, D.C., who isn't just focused on acne or high-end skincare brands? I am tired of being told it's just "stress" or a "weak immune system." My diet is perfectly balanced and varied, so my immunity should be fine😕. Also, my skin is extremely pale and prone to moles and warts, which have been popping up lately like mushrooms after a rainstorm. Interestingly, Mustelin cream actually provides some relief, though the symptoms return the moment I stop using it👎

Could we be looking at a fungal infection, like ringworm? And does this kind of redness usually only pop up during the winter months?

The General Dermatology Clinic never mentioned a fungal infection, though I wouldn't be surprised if that's actually what it is😕. It flares up every winter on the exact same spot on my right leg, spreading slowly—I've got three little patches now... In the summer, it’s mostly just sun allergies😠

Look, I can't really give you a definitive answer just by looking at this—it's impossible to say for sure off the top of my head. Personally, I don't think we're dealing with a fungal infection, but honestly, until a dermatologist actually gets eyes on it, there's no way to call it. My best advice? Just grab a referral from your primary care doctor and head over to the General Dermatology Clinic at Shalat to get it checked out properly. Here’s a link if you want to dig into some more info:

I deal with almost the exact same stuff. Dry skin and constant itching. I went to the General Dermatology Clinic for testing, but they couldn't find anything. My doctor prescribed Beloderm Belobaza at 40%—it was 20% at first—and that actually helps. This has been going on for four or five years now, strictly during the winter. Honestly, they took a skin sample at the clinic, and they concluded it was just some unspecified condition.

I’ve used that same cream too. When I visited the General Dermatology Clinic years ago, the doctor just looked at my leg, prescribed the cream, and that was that—no biopsies or anything else🙄. Is it actually possible that there isn't an underlying issue causing this permanently? I can't stand these dermatological issues; they never seem to go away😠. And then they just tell me I have sensitive skin or that I'm stressed... even though my stress levels are the same as when I was fifteen and didn't deal with any of this, much like how warts and moles just keep appearing more frequently😕. Disgusting

Honestly, I don't know if a permanent fix even exists. I'm just glad I have this stuff on hand.
Whenever I need it, I apply it and the itching stops. Before this, I was using some kind of tonic twice a day, then showering after three days and changing my sheets—everything just flared up because of that! So, my doctor sent me over to the Shalat clinic. Taking a skin sample isn't actually that scary; you just get a little injection and they take a tiny piece with a scalpel, like they did with my thigh.

Look, if you’re feeling totally fed up with the public healthcare system, your best bet is probably just reaching out to one of those private dermatologists instead.

Check out the "Atopic and Other Dermatitis" thread just down a bit. There’s already a massive pile of advice there for your issues, so no need to start a whole new thread

I suppose I should mention the carrot. Maybe. driftingwalker13 says:
Every winter, my skin just goes through a complete meltdown.😕It’s incredibly dry in some spots, and I guess I have chicken skin in others.🤮On the inside, there's this rough, red patch that's incredibly itchy and seems to be spreading slightly. Since this issue pops up every single winter, my dermatologist just hands me some different cream or shower oil each season, depending on which pharmaceutical company they happen to be partnered with at the time.😠I want to see a reputable dermatologist who can actually run some tests and figure out why this is happening. Does anyone know a great specialist in Washington, D.C.? I'm looking for someone who isn't just focused on acne or skincare products. I am so tired of hearing that it’s just stress or a weak immune system. My diet is perfectly balanced and I eat a huge variety of foods, so my immunity should be fine, I guess. 😕I have incredibly pale skin and I'm prone to moles and warts—which, honestly, have started popping up like mushrooms after a rainstorm lately. I guess Mustelin's cream actually works for me, though I stumbled onto that by accident; but the second I stop using it, everything just comes right back.👎

What are you even talking about, Mustelin? I guess I have the same issue, but on my face.👎
