Hey everyone.

Quick question. Are there any actual speech exercises that actually work for clarity? I’m struggling with certain sounds—specifically sibilants like S or Z...😢
I spend time every day reading books out loud and trying to fix it, but I just can't seem to get my "S" sounds right. 😢
Does anyone know of specific drills or anything else that might help? I'd really appreciate the insight.

Best,

Go see a speech therapist; they’re the ones who can actually help you out.🙂

So, is there any actual homework I should be doing, or am I just stuck waiting for my next appointment with that speech therapist? 😢

I’m dealing with the exact same headache... Honestly, the only real move is seeing a speech therapist, though even then, you have to wonder if they can actually fix it... It all boils down to what the root cause is. In my case, it’s a dental issue, so I’m looking at an orthodontist on top of the speech therapy. 🙂 But look, a speech pathologist isn't the worst thing in the world.

I remember seeing a speech therapist back when I was a little kid. I dealt with that exact same struggle with the "s," "c," and "z" sounds—though for me, it was almost always the "s" that gave me trouble. My sessions involved this repetitive drill where I had to read words starting with or containing those specific sounds over and over again, until my pronunciation finally started sounding somewhat natural. Of course, I never quite hit that level of absolute perfection, mostly because I’ve also struggled with some dental issues that make certain sounds tricky regardless of how much practice I do...
